Some offices have official 5 hour delivery spans. I believe that is the max.

The maximum is 7+ hours, I'll try to find the official bit regarding this.

(accidently posted this in the other thread  )

With a 6 hour shared van does someone else do the prepping or something?

Otherwise you have 2 hours to prep a 6 hour delivery. Or more accurately, 1 hour 40 minutes with 20 minutes meal before you leave office. I'd say thats almost impossible..?

Why is it impossible, if I'm out of the office any later than 2 hours after I start then I cut off.

I saw somewhere that max delivery is 7.30hrs, how can that be if you work 8hrs and entitled to 40mins mealbreak? What happens if we go to 39hrs, we have never had extra time given to prep our D2Ds, so who will do that if we have to do all this extra delivery? Who will prep our frames and bundle up, can't absorb that  Total shambles :dance

But after your 8 hours then it's up to them to get the post delivered...........let them manage, it is what they get paid extra for :chuckle

The times quoted are what is considered a maximum ergonomically acceptable span from a Health&Safety point of view.
They are not intended to form a viable workplan.
The reason that a rural can be effectively a full duty is that it is not considered a physically demanding delivery method.
Having done Shared delivery with light weight trolley for 15months now i can tell you that 6hrs is ridiculous.
A couple of days of that would kill you.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Personally i don't give a f**k what the computer says or what RM/CWU says my maximum ergonomically acceptable span is 4hrs-4hrs30 at a push.
If they don't like it they can do their thing with IHR/NCI/Whatever.

That's the trouble with this business.
People just aren't prepared to go th e extra mile for the company.
No wonder the general public think we are lazy thieving bastards.
They've underwritten our pension liabilities. We've got a massive inflation busting pay rise and we still think walking for 7 hours a day is a hardship. :wave :Very Happy
