our union guy has come up with an idea of keeping our wallington weeks and getting an extra sat off every eight weeks by banking one hour a week instead of having the 39 hr week it would be scheduled in your duty option days off so we would have 2 in 8 sats off

Whats the point of the union getting you a 39 hour week, and you working 40 ?

Go for 4 day weeks & you'll get a 5 day break every 3 weeks, and still only work 39 hours

EVERY 3rd week you finish on THURS afternoon, and ain't back on shift till the following WED morning, 5 whole days off !

Five whole days off,only to be absolutely knackered for 3 weeks doing 9+hour days. How long can you keep that up. I would suggest only if you are a younger person. It will not last, believe me.

Where do you find the indoor work for the 9.45 mins days when last letter is 3 in town and 4 in rurals?. I have included the 4 day weeks in our duty options but think they could stop some p/t's getting made full time in the revision.

Why not do 2 Saturdays off every six weeks (for the FT)? This does rely on most of the PT staff not being fussed about working Saturdays, but in return they get most bank holidays off and a block of 3-days off at the heavy end of the every week i.e. a static shift pattern.

We do Wallington weeks, and our members voted to remain doing the same, apart from moving to 39 hours, TBH it's seems to be working OK, not had any complaints.

Same here slightly fewer staff (approx 50) but it's demoralising knowing that despite the fact we will be working later than ever on sats we won't be getting any extra off.....very unhappy

Its possible in any office, its just that its harder for managers to manage so they try to hoodwink people into accepting less than is their due.

Just my opinion but if your managers don't want to be 2010 complaint (1 in 4 Saturdays) then why should you be.

Totally true TBT. Want to know why managers say "it can't be done"? Because it can't be done if they want to make extra savings in your revision. Of course it can be done!
