How many people left after the revision

Well the revision has recently began in my DO with half the duties already revised and the other half changing next week. The head lino has been telling all the P/T staff on rolling contracts who have been branded surplus that it is highly likely that their contracts will be extended because they are expecting a lot of senior staff to leave due to the revisions. Taken into account that the head lino in my DO is a twat who talks out of his arse, I have told the other part timers to take what he says with a pinch of salt. Anyway out of curiosity, were there many people who jacked the job in once the revision went through in your DO. Looking at the way it is going in my DO, I could well understand it if they did.

In our office, it has been some of the older posties who have left, probably because they were used to the 'old' ways of working, and start/finish times, or, as i have found out, and i know some would dispute it, but van sharing, and working till 3.30/4pm on some of the larger van shares on busy days is....bloody knackering! and does affect not only your physical health but your mental health too. Last year it was noticeable in our office that the larger proportion of new starts were in the 18-30 age group, i wonder why? All of them drive...naturally, most are on contracts where they do not start till 9am in the morning so most of their round is 'thrown out' for them, but some still seem to find the job a bit knackering haha, Our office is currently looking for volunteers to 'buy down' their hours, it will be interesting to see what age range these volunteers come from?

Well for the reasons you state, I figured that a lot of the more senior staff might just say stuff it, I am going to take early retirement. The things that seemed attractive for this job before I started, have gradually been taken away from the job, and now its seems tedious working as a postman. I am glad I am leaving, though I have enjoyed the first four/five months and have gained total respect for postmen and women, and totally lost it for RM hierarchy.

Loads of people got their hours increased also,many going from p/t to f/t.

In that sense P&L has been great for our office.

Strange that more people are needed, and hours were increased, I thought the whole point of the revision was to make the RM more efficient, save money, and basically get one postie to do the job of two.

I think this is the problem many contributors are having great difficulty in.

Cedar your office is like ours , 26 p/t made up to f/t and no-one on less than 36 hrs per week, so in some offices some positives have come from the revision

It's because after the full office re-sign there are a handful of duty's that are going to have 1 in 3 Saturday's off rather than the 'usual' 1 in 4,the newbies will work perm' Friday's,Saturday's & Monday's to enable this to be achieved.

I wont get one of these duty's but i feel that it's a step in the right direction re: more Saturday's off & with further people being employed,especially in the current climate,i reckon it's a win-win situation.
