Nearly robbed and attacked on collection

Hello I'm a postie who also does evening collections from the postbox's and firms.

So last night(tuesday) as i was pulling up to a postbox I spotted 3 kids who looked very out of place in such a nice area, Bournville(cadburys).

I emptied the box and got back in the van and heard them trying the back door (its a transit with auto lock). So i tried to proceed and they blocked my path to the entrance to get into this firm located on the grounds of cadburys. I wound my window up and managed to race past them down to the firm which was quite a distance away. I carried on and thought nothing more of those idiots. I picked up the special Delivery items from the firm and walked out, which is when an employee warned me of a gang of kids coming towards us and to hang on while he got the security guard.

I ran to my van, threw the stuff in the back and spotted one of them so I quickly got in the van and just managed to lock the doors! He was up the window telling me to get out. I ended up bombing it out of the car park and missing a post box.

Now Everyone is quite shocked that it happened to me and in such a nice area....

Police wont do anything as theres 'no evidence'.

I was attacked over a year ago in the street for not having someones Giro, even with witness's(including an off duty police woman) and the guy admitting to doing it they just cautioned him.

Now today (wednesday) They've just attacked another postman in the same place, dented his van, tried to smash window and askin for my name?!?? Wtf looks like im not safe... Riot vans were called but they got away.

This has me scared now I know it wasn't a one off!!!

There putting a guard on that duty for now(im staying away from that duty), but they only have a guard on 1 other duty as they cut the guard on the other trying to save money...

why didnt you ring 999 at the time and say youre being robbed in a royal mail van ?????????????????

Isn't that their job...finding evidence?...how hard did they look?
Did they expect to find a set of painted footprints leading to the little tossers?
Maybe a list of their names,addresses and phone numbers accidentally dropped by them?
Cops just seem to get lazier by the day.

I was more concerned about getting back to delivery office for my own saftey. Would you sit there while someone tries to get you? And after hearing about the other postman, just shows how lucky I was to get away.

personally I would have done the same as you, however had a weapon etc been involved I would have given up the van / mail without a second thought if it meant I was safe from harm.

I am much more important than some mail even if they are specials.

you are not paid to be a security guard and maybe lose your life over some letters and packets.

I hope that they do catch the little B***ards and string them up by their gonads, but I doubt that they will.

sound nasty, im sure weve all had run ins with little inbreds working here, had 1 throw a punch at me for a giro same reason as you, he got 10 rapid of me in " self defence " and got him done for asault, i hope nothing more comes off this situation

I think you have done the right thing by staying off the duty as they seem to have taken it personal.

Normally in this sort of situ RM send out 2 in the cab. The passenger can keep an eye out and record any problems on a mobile so lazy plod can have some evidence.

Quite worrying though, stay safe.

"such a nice area, Bournville" - a strange place though Bournville, and not one I would choose to go to. Too much chocolate and no alcohol isn't how things should be, an unnatural combination that occasionally will lead to serious anti-social behaviour like you've sadly experienced.

Has your DIM suggested a buddy up until things calm down at least if anything does happen your accompanied by another postie.
