Is it just me, or are there a lot more people getting dismissed? In our office alone there's been 5 this year!

Infractions that used to be dealt with leniently are now being dealt with as gross misconduct.
Dismissals appear to be increasing.

Now, more than ever, it is important that people do their job properly.
But will they listen.........?

Only one in the past year and that was for wilful delay, of course if we lose anymore the whole office will collapse

We've had no one go for over a year due to a Stage 3 and had one do the walk of shame just before Christmas. One ongoing Gross Misconduct at the moment.

I think the interesting part to this would be who are the people being dismissed.... long termers or recent hires. if it the former then thats scary.

Give it a few year and everyone working at RM will be on a temp rolling contract, then your local DO will be like central station with people coming and going.

it will happen because it saves royal mail redundancy or ill health payments.
no offence seems to be overlooked now, before you could get away with things, not anymore.

we have had one in the last 3 years and that was last year when our then DIM pushed a postie a little too far ending up with the DIM being called a c**t and a w****r.

we all agreed with the postie and shook his hand as he left the office on suspension.needless to say, he never came back.

but as we are already lapsing four walks ( five on a Tuesday ) I don't think they will get rid of anyone else yet.

It probably runs in cycles, we haven't had anyone dismissed recently but we have certainly had plenty leave, mostly new starters, of the 8 taken on last October only 2 remain and we are about to start some more in the next couple of weeks ready for the revision I presume. One lad was to be dismissed, won his appeal and then handed his notice in and left and he had a number of years service. There may be a few more after this revision because lots of the vacant duties that have been covered by lower seniority posties have been advertised and taken by others, These would be part timers covering fulltime duties for very long periods and they are going to be losing a fair bit of money.

Well its another two this saturday. They have been suspened! that's 9 in total now this year, all full timers! Funny, because part timers are getting away with stuff. You have got to ask some serious question's what the hell is going on. There needs to be an investigation into our office. Why are these bullies for manager's allowed to get away with it.

Have the 9 who have been suspended committed offences serious enough to warrant suspension?

I would say that 3 have, but the others no, like i said part timer's are doing the same and they turn a blind eye to it.
