what have I let myself in for!!!

So my three month contract ran out today - I am due to work tomorrow but is this contract renewed? Who knows! There are a few things I have noticed about working for the RM - some good, some not so (same as anywhere!)

Good - There are, although sadly the minority, some cracking staff out there - willing to go the extra mile to help. Proper sound guys.
This job is bloody good for losin weight - I lost two stone so far!
The response from some of the customers - especially the kids, when they get their parcels is fab! ("Vera, the remote's arrived, we can change the channel now!!")
errrrrrrrrr ................... I like the radio in the depo?
........................ and the kettle?!

Not so good - The computer generated time expectations of the staff are highly unrealistic and we are often late back (which effs up the late collection run after)
I have not been paid any of my overtime, yet I have brought this up over and over. consequently I am not doin OT at mo.
Training was scant, work related feedback even more so yet surprised if I make mistakes?!
Some staff are bloody rude - needlessly so.
clickiness rules o.k?! (If you don't like it, we'll make your work life very uncomfortable)


On the advice of the surlier old timers, I have applied for other jobs. I romantisised RM in my head and it is nothing like I thought it would be. I can't be bothered with the rudeness of staff, the two facedness etc and the blahdeblah "we will nod but won't listen" of the managers. I resent being made to adhere to, and paid for unrealistic computer generated work timings. I feel like I work so hard. I am so disappointed :(

It is good job to get fit and lose weight but you will gain weight with muscle and find it hard to lose weight eventually.

The job just need realistic workload and balance. There are better and worse job out there.

This is out of order but seems to be happening more and more If you are a CWU member i would advise you to take the matter up with your rep asap and try from that angle. If your not a CWU member i would recomend you join

Your fitness will soon improve as well. To lose that much weight i actually think your doing really well, keep it up

I think a lot of people are the same,they see us on the ground and that's it,they don't see the other bits.
