Does any one know what hours two people work on a job share 3 days each .is it 20 hours or 24 hours each.. confused.

we have 2 in our office who job share and they do 24 hours each = 3days each. as 6 days = 48 hours

yes but we work 5 day weeks so if you did 48 hour a week between you . you would be entitled to the wallington week off every 6th week

thanks bringon4dayweeks our delivery office works 6 day weeks for five weeks then a week off covered by postman on 5 weeks on 1 week off.6 posties 5 duties. my quesstion is if 2 are sharing 1 delivery on 48 hours 24 each. my manager says they dont get a rotating week off.and what duty does rotate postie do if the 2 on 48 hour week is on the duty he is supposed to cover

hi again whats confusing me is they are paying the 2 of us 24 hours pro rata on all allowances which adds up to over £5,000 a year more for 2 people to share a delivery i have phoned HR and informed that this could be overpayment and they have made a note of this because it comes out of office budget.

well if you and your buddy werent on it on the rota week somebody needs to be so how can it be overpayment

I don't see why that is an overpayment. They are still paying 48hrs per week which is the same as they would if there was a FT duty holder and FT floater covering 5 walks.

I am using the figures on my last two pay slips.pay for week 46 gross pay with allowances £421 full time . week 47 part time with pro rata allowances £252 the same for my partner x 2 =£504 im sure rm are the losers on this.

£421 for a FT 40 hour - would equate to a £505 for a 48 hours = no overpayment.

£421/40 = £10.52 (0.5pence)

so 1 hour - £10.525

multiply by 48 gives you £505.20.

Looks as though, if your figures are correct - you are the losers by 60p each

No they're not. If you are a 40hour postie on a 5 day week, then the 6th day is covered by a 2nd postie and added together its 48 hours. All they are doing is splitting the ratio at 50/50 instead of 83/17.

They are saving money though if your office works on a wallington week basis, but you and your partner are not, as they don't need to cover the week that the job shares are off.

so what job does the rotate postie do when we are doing one of the five duties he has to cover as his duty( 5 weeks on 1 week off)the whole office are on this 40 hour week doing 48 hours a week to get the week off me and my job share partner are on 24 hours each im my manager has made a mistake when i spoke to HR they agreed that we could be over paid i am sure we should be on 20 hours each to get the rotate week off
