Anothe Repick Question !
We are about to go into the revision process, a relativley small office with 28 walks 5 firms and 1 rural delivery, so my question is this, we have been told that after 2 thirds through the repick regardless of seniority the part timers in the office will get a pick of the walks left, this means that I have been there 11 years and someone with less than 1 year in will get a pick before me and others.
This is not a go at part time workers but surely this is not fair.
I have asked our rep to produce in black and white the proof that this can be done but to date he has not shown the goods.
Can someone on here shed some light on this I am getting nowhere with the union even the area rep keeps fobbing us off as if they are in cahots with management.

Re: Anothe Repick Question !
Perhaps the post-P&L shift pattern, voted in by the members following a meeting with the union rep, has a bearing on how the resign planned to run?

can't understand how someone who is p/t can pick dutys which seem to be full time. if there is no mtsf issues seniority should hold the field. more info neededhaveagojoe wrote:We are about to go into the revision process, a relativley small office with 28 walks 5 firms and 1 rural delivery, so my question is this, we have been told that after 2 thirds through the repick regardless of seniority the part timers in the office will get a pick of the walks left, this means that I have been there 11 years and someone with less than 1 year in will get a pick before me and others.

Re: Anothe Repick Question !
What management and union btw are saying is there should be a fair representation across the repick of walks between part timers and full timers so it gives the part time workers a chance of getting a permanant walk but this shoves seniority out of the door, I and others will be sent out to other offices,(maybe) or just moved from walk to walk when I have held my own walk for the last 8 years, this can,t be right.

Re: Anothe Repick Question !
if there are 40 full time dutys, and say 10 p/t dutys then the full timers will pick the f/t dutys on their seniority and the same for the part timers. if the part timers have been made up to f/t then perhaps they will be able to pick ahead of you if they are senior to you. i can't believe everything is in flux during the re sign. the 318's should be showing they are f/t dutys or p/t dutys.haveagojoe wrote:What management and union btw are saying is there should be a fair representation across the repick of walks between part timers and full timers so it gives the part time workers a chance of getting a permanant walk but this shoves seniority out of the door, I and others will be sent out to other offices,(maybe) or just moved from walk to walk when I have held my own walk for the last 8 years, this can,t be right.

Re: Anothe Repick Question !
The CWU as voted for by a vote in 2010 agreed to a 75% full time to 25% partime workforce so if you have 20 duties 5 should be staffed by partime the full time staff that do not have duties will be shiped around. But that is what people voted for in 2010 but i guess most people just looked at the money and not what impact it would on their own job's.

id like to think this part of bt 2010 was to bring more people up to full time hours, not disadvantage those already on them.k979aaa wrote:The CWU as voted for by a vote in 2010 agreed to a 75% full time to 25% partime workforce so if you have 20 duties 5 should be staffed by partime the full time staff that do not have duties will be shiped around. Don't forget that this was a National not local figure. Possible to have 100% Pt'ers in one office!k979aaa wrote:The CWU as voted for by a vote in 2010 agreed to a 75% full time to 25% partime workforce so if you have 20 duties 5 should be staffed by partime the full time staff that do not have duties will be shiped around. What's a part timer look like, anyway moving on...
As a rule, the main difference between a part timer and a full timer is the indoor work,an office haveago's size which is similar to mine should have no need for part timers to jump the que if they are junior.
And as for doing it so they can have a permanent walk is a wind up right? there are senior full timers out there that want a permanent walk.
What is the office stats pt/ft?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
