our office is 3/4 the way through the revision but we still have people coming in early not useing the trolleys still carrying mail on the shoulder rushing around like headless chickens to get finished on time and the few that do the job as it should be done and cannot complete their deliveries feel intimidated /bullied by managers when they return with mail. management turn a blind eye to the trolleys not being used and carrying the pouches as long as the mail gets delivered . what a compete waste of time and money these changes have been.

why you using trolleys when you havnt fully started the methods.wait till its all done then use the trolleys.posties still using bags nothin new ther few offices i no still usin them with it in.as you say bosses arnt arsed aslong as mail out.all i can say about the flappers who come in early gang off to@@@rs its t@ts like that who f@@ everyone one up in delivery

billyboy123, this sounds very familar. I'm surrounded by duty holders who are in vialation of SSOW and health&safety protocol, all known previous holders of my duty and my day off cover are all just as guilty, so I'm very much on the mangers' radar.

However, the average delivery span (so excluding meal relief taken on the road; replishment of the trolley because it exceeds the 104Kg weight treshold and often just the packet volume means there is more than one trolley load; my possible toilet break; 15 mins at end of duty to sort out failed items back at the depot) in the planners' program is in line with how long I'm taking when doing the job properly.

To compound the issue, the alloted prep time is often too short to do the prep fully including killing off that day's deads, not helped by the fact that we are often waiting on the final lorry load and the late availabilty of signing for Specials from the Callers' Office. Other times random OPGs are asked to do some of the walk's prep, but they cut corners and make myriads of missorts and incorrect packet prompts. Which means there's even less time left for delivery, so my lino has even more managing to do.

We have had the revision in since June, its a farce. We started off using the trolleys and quickly they have be dumped. The job is totally unmanageable with them so we have gone back to carrying weight, does the manager complain, of course not, he's getting the job done. We are still (9 months later) leaving work in especially on a wed/thurs. Most of the posties in the office have changed the original loops and made them smaller, to cater for the weight on the shoulder.
We have gone to a stage 1 disagreement and on the verge of going to stage 2 because RM are delaying any changes we want, its clear the office has been reduced too much but no one listens.
I dont mind dumping the trolleys as it makes the job manageable most of the week, but people throwing up early, not having lunch breaks and running around like madmen just isnt right. The jobs F**ked.

Sirgordonzola,get back on the trolleys ffs,get back to doing the job properly,the more s**t you make for them the more fun it is,and the more chance you've got of them doing something to sort it out.

PS:Why would they listen to you when you're mugging yourselves.

no mate u in your office have f@@@ the job up , let see how much you wud cry iv they took the van off you.we have had it in for a year now and we do the job properly,ok wer no saints but 4 walks needed lookin at and guess wat royal mail sorted them out now all walks our equel.you have got to work together sit down with managment and ye rep and sort it coz iv you dont do it royal mail will bring it in how they want to as postman said

If trolleys have been assigned, you should be delivering by trolleys, end of! The only thing that should be in your pouch mail wise is any Specials, weight off the shoulder to reduce long term health issues associated with heavy pouches was a major part of using trolleys to deliver.

If the planners/managers have been foolish enough to make the walks too big to deliver by trolley while not cutting corners, then you either need to do some extended delivery "by the book" or judge what is possible to deliver for the remainder of your shift after prepping (allowing time for meal relief, toilet break, sorting out undeliverred items on return to the depot). Do not under any circumstances fudge delivery by taking security or health and safety risks, it will come back to bite you in the ass someday through IB or an accident on duty where the fact finding shows you were not doing things correctly.
