Make sure before you do that it's something concrete,a clear breach of union rules not just "my rep is a lazy tosser" or "they only look after themselves".
He/she may well be a lazy tosser but there isn't much Branch can do about that because it's subjective and really up to the members to remove the rep.

would it be to the area rep. also is it common practise for your d.o rep to ignore the union national rules just to get what he wants.

At the end of the day he asked how to make a complaint not whether we thought it was silly or not.
If he thinks it's serious enough then it's not our place to tell him otherwise.
His judgement is far more valid than yours or mine anyway because it's his office and his rep.

There are good reps and bad reps, I don't understand why some responses say 'do the job yourself', what sort of answer is that?

By that logic, should you never criticize anyone unless you are prepared to do the job yourself?

I have known total s**t reps and have proved them wrong on numerous occasions, totally corrupt and only in it for themselves or just plain s**t dishing out duff information.

If you have a real complaint then I would advise an email to Billy Hayes, if it's serious stuff that is.

it means instead of belly aching about a rep, why dont you ore some one else in the office stand for his/her position

yes you have good and bad reps but do not tarnish all reps with the same brush

we are not the font of all knowledge but we learn by going on courses and experience, we do most of our work out side of normal working hours which never gets mentioned

Unfortunately though, as a statement it's illogical, you don't have to do a job to form your own opinion on someone else's ability to do that job.

Also, I'm not tarring anyone with any brush, I'm simply making a statement, saying that some are good, some are bad.

I personally have had dealings with 7 reps, out of that 7 only 2 were good, that's my experience but obviously not reflective of the entire population of reps.

but how can you come to an opinion that a rep is bad if you do not know what is involved in being a rep to begin with

i am not being picky but i belong to an active branch and all the reps get support at our monthly section meetings

if it is deemed a rep is under performing, refresher courses are taken

what people fail to understand is that if a rep gives bad advice to the detrament of the member, the union can be sued, certification carries big responsabilities.

their is more to being a rep than standing up for members with the management
