Surplus Staff
Well looking at the duties assigned for the upcoming revision, I have been branded surplus staff alongside a duty that I have been given for the first couple of weeks. What does this mean ? Surplus staff sounds like Im in for the Spanish archer pretty soon !! I think its because my driving assessment was failed, , I'm leaving in June, but will I last that long, am I that lucky ?

either way I am not that fussed, like I say I am starting a new job in June, so three months break would'nt be so bad. Then again I could do with a couple more months earning some cash. Anyway like I say either way, I am not fussed. I just wanted to know if it is likely that I will be given the elbow since I am now classed as surplus.

their are no surplus staff, only employed staff and royal mail need to find positions for exsiting staff
not go down IHR OR VR as is the norm these days

Well my contract runs out in two months, so do you reckon I will be kept on HCT duties until its ran out and then my contract will not be renewed ? This is the most convenient for me.

It's the opposite to uncovered duties, but much rarer than a ice-cube in a furnace.

After our duty revision we are signing for new duties at present. But there will be about 130 'surplus' staff who won't get duties.
They will be kept on attendances in line with their seniority for 3 months, during which time they can apply for transfers or evr.
If they haven't taken either they will be (compulsory) transferred to another office in 3 months time. Or at least that's how I understand it is supposed to happen.
