workers in any occupation that requires the wearing of a uniform are entitled to an allowance from hmrc for the washing/cleaning of their uniform,it's not agreat deal, but better in your pocket than the governments. just ring your tax office and ask if you are getting this allowance and if not ,claim it.

This is bollocks! If you wear a uniform with a Logo on it then you ARE entitled!

Ring them up and argue the toss!

we already all get it, its automatically applied to your tax code,

there's a couple of threads already regarding this.
We DO NOT all get it automatically, i had to phone the tax office and get my code altered, as have many others on here.
check your wage slip, if your tax code is 0759L then you are getting it, if its anything less than 0759 then you are not.
you can claim back up to 6 years

surely royal mail should also pay you to wash it too i reckon at least a £1 a week

That's what the tax relief is for

Although it only works out in real money about 50p per week
