Temporary Contracts Question

Hi,

I have been working for Royal Mail for about 8 months now, and i really enjoy the job. I was originally put on a 3 month temporary contract and have since had 2 contracts extensions which currently takes me upto the end of March. I have been told my contract will be extended further past March.

I was speaking to someone recently who i work with, and they said something about, once you have been on a temporary contract for a certain amount of time, Royal Mail have to then turn the contract into a permanent one.

Is this true? If it is, how long do i have to have been on a temporary contract before it has to be turned into a permanent one?

Any info would be hugely appreciated.

4 years in law :sad: - 2 years in an agreement with the CWU :Very Happy that is not being honoured at the moment :sad: , but is under discussion at high level between the Union and RM. :Very Happy

I've been on one for 2 years now so hoping that CWU can get it made permanent soon

Been on temp 3 month contracts for a little over a year now....just hope i don't have to wait another 3 to be made permanent!! lol

Took me 4 years on temporary contract and even then i had to ask to be made permanent :crazy:

how does it stand if you go from say part time to full time on tempory basis and you have 8 years service
