Peeps that come in early

What has happened to this once fabulous job? Am i an old relic ? it seems that very few of my collegues like to start work at their normal proper duty times. Everyone seems to want to come in early, run around their deliveries,they don't take a meal relief. i'm not surprised that our jobs are knackered now. How can this behaviour reflect what things are really like... but these same peeps are the first ones to complain when the DOM starts looking into their duties, and putting more work on them. Is this happening all over ? or is it just my office?

I turn in today (mon) at 6am to 4 mech trays / boxes sitting on my frame only to see other people's frames already prepped up and them sitting down collating door to door for the rest of the week.

Glad to see i'm not on my own then , Wot happened to the days when the union rep wouldn't allow peepes to start anymore than 5 mins before duty start time .

My rep comes in early, finishes just after 1pm, takes meal releif at end of shift.

I'm sorry but that's rubbish, about 60 people in my office, around 40 of those come in early, 30 of those it's only 10 mins or so but then you have the 10 people that come in 30-45 mins early, in no way whatsoever does that get counteracted by people coming in late, and like someone else pointed out these are normaly the first people that moan when hours are removed or they have to lapse etc

When a DOM or planner looks at the figures for an office , they completely IGNORE the work achieved by comming in early,

THUS giving them the amunition to fire at the union rep when further hours / savings are to be REMOVED from the unit.

Say you & 70% of a office of 100 come in just 10 mins early for say 40 weeks of the years ( takes into account hols / sickness )

10mins X 5 days = 50mins per man.
70 men x 50 mins per day = 3500mins OR over 58 hours per week
Thats 1&1/2 FULL TIME duties LOST, every week !
Thats over 2330 hours a year !
The DOM saves 2330 x £9 = £20970 per year - which helps him get a NICE big bonus of ££££
Thats 33 HOURS a year your doing for FREE = 33 x £9 = £297 extra that could be in YOUR pocket......

The DOM must be laughing all the way to the bank ( with money earned by you ! )

IF YOU CAN'T GET YOUR DUTY DONE IN THE DUTY TIME-----BOOK O/T. Don't cover it up by coming in early.

I dont get it.

At my interview they said to me " we will pay you from THIS time to THAT time" So i start at this time and finish at that time.

Why would i start earlier un paid or work later unpaid ?

If the managers asked folks to come in 40 mins early unpaid and not be allowed a meal break, there would be uproar .

But because folks do it off their own back it becomes alright ? ? I may of said this before but.... i just dont get it.

i think we should all get on to are union reps and linos, tell them they have a duty to care, and that they should make those not having there breaks take them(away from there frame )were out delivering for longer now with park and loop, and a break is needed even if he/she says he dont want a break he/she should be made to take it.

The Reps can (and do) try this and I have even seen linos try to get people to work to there time and take breaks...

... and what happens?. OPG's ignore it so they can finish early.
