Driving Assessment
I was told on Saturday that I have a driving assessment on Monday morning, and it will be in one of those big vans. Apparently everyone needs to do this, for the upcoming P & L revision. If you have read my posts you know that I am leaving in June, and I am really tempted to fail this assessment as I have no wish to be put on driving duties before I go. So what happens if I decide to fail, will they sack me ? or make me do it again at a later date ? What if I tell them I do not want to drive and refuse to take the test, again will they sack me ? will they put me on one of the few remaining foot duties when P & L starts next month.

No, all assessments are done on the biggest van in the office because you may have to drive one of them at some time.bringon4dayweeks wrote: big vans on p&l??

Really, I was assessed on a Vauxhall Astra when we had several much larger vans about 18 months ago. Also they have just changed our ways of working to include drivers who have not passed their assessment, a clear oversight that completely messes up several rounds in a supposedly cost cutting exercise

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Well I failed ! I stalled four times at busy junctions, I mounted the kerb while reversing around the corner, and I was constantly missing gears on purpose !! I wish I could take a picture of the managers face when the assessor told him I failed, pure magic :D I have no idea what they are going to do, I think I heard them saying that they were going to put me through it again at a later date. I think I'll fail it again for fun :D

It was kinda hard to keep a straight face, when I was saying I was so disappointed to the assessor and manager, I cannot believe my luck, then I blamed the van
