Courier: a hint of what's in store on deliveries ?

Post by wandle »

So what does Moya Greene really mean in the bit about 'driving profitable growth' when she states:

You know from the rise in how many packets we deliver that this market has huge potential for us. Delivering these packets at the first attempt is key to meeting our customers' expectations and winning more business.

Delivering packets at the first attempt (assuming we're talking about tracked items and those that are too large for the letterbox) sounds to me like she's hinting at wanting evening deliveries  when the addressee is more likely to be at home to accept the item

Any thoughts, Dingo ? Anyone ? :hmmmm

Someone had better tell Moya that the parcels get left behind in the office if we can't complete and can sit there for days :cuppa
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Timed delivery slots. Hourly or, perhaps, two hourly whereby the recipient can specify when delivery is to be made.
It sounds great and could be a real new business winner but it's a logistical nightmare and extremely difficult to implement efficiently
without costs spiralling out of control.

Should be fun seeing how big a f*ck up we can make of this one. :chuckle

So you can just pop down to your local delivery office to pick it up.

Problem is, there is no way to tell your postman not to bother hawking around your parcel all day.

there should be a service where you say leave your packets etc at the sorting office and you go down once a week to pick them up called at work collection

Totally agree and fed up with writing 739's to the same customers every day, still i suppose if they have to travel to the delivery office every day to pick their parcels up they may get the hint and not order so much stuff online :thumbdown

We have to be careful here.
Should we be fed up writing out P739's?
It is our job,it isn't particularly difficult and if they stop ordering stuff online we're screwed.
I know it's not a particularly popular view but i think moaning at customers for ordering stuff, although understandable...is pretty suicidle jobs-wise.

Couldn't agree more. Reminds me of when I was on a duty a few months back...Monday, packet for X address (knock, knock) no answer. 739'd and on my merry way when matey opens door and shouts 'you something for me, mate?' Tuesday, exactly same scenario. So come Wednesday, another parcel for same address, so wrote out a 739 in the office, shove it through his door and walked on. Low and behold, bloke comes out 'sorry mate, didn't hear ya' :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

Then there's the address, leave 739s weekdays, phone call Friday, redeliver them Saturday, near enough every week. but it keeps me in a job. :Very Happy
