In the top 3 for full time but 2 are being made up because they can drive, seniority only works for full timers and part time drivers. Totally p$@#&d off with royal mail and the union. BTW been on strike twice for us and still getting shafted.

Well only reason I put up with so much s**t off management was to become full time now that's blatantly not going to happen so guess its a new career path. So annoyed. Maybe I didn't suck enough gaffer co$k ?

RM is not a career, it's just a job that you'll never progress in, I can see many FTers ending up PT when we get sold

Believe me I did emailed headquarters and the area rep came in and his and our rep came up with the whole " put it to the vote " needless to say all the full timers said they wanted the repick to remain and I got screwed.

I understand your frustration non-driver7 but the truth is...i've never gone on strike for the union,i've only ever gone on strike in support of my colleagues and that won't change.
Sometimes/most days i look at them and wonder why i bother but i can't ever see the day when i would rather cross a picket line and just roll over.
I'll be honest with you though...in my humble opinion i think the chances of ever seeing national industrial action again are slim to none.
HQ are taking the union off in a different direction now,conflict avoidance rather than conflict and then resolution is the new model.
The change is startling to those of us who have been around a bit.
10 years ago the union would never have put up with what has been happening over the last 18 months with the colleagueshare robbery,Angard,Workfare,the revision fiasco and the part-time/fixed term garbage.
Now everything is joint statement this and joint statement that.
That's a staff association not a union...sorry for the rant.

I have had two guys in my office join in the last two weeks due to harassment. you can leave, be isolated and have no protection. I have been at many meetings with management and it is not easy. I certainly do not cosy up.

Some reps have achieved PT to FT without the "cosy up". Its training thats required for reps,and to be honest there are more that are not then actually are. Take your issue higher. As usual management only perform stunts like this because they can!

If I understand your situration correct there were only full time drving duties left to be signed for and therefore only those part time staff wanting to go full time who could drive would get the job.

Now I know you feel put out but there is not much good you signing for the only vancancy in the office a CDV van drivers duty and you then cannot drive. It would be similar to someone signing to perform a Walk sequencing operators role who could not perform a night duty.

Remember first and foremost your rep agrees the method of deliveries ie CDVs , HCTs , types of attendances and the amount of. Duties. Only once all have signed will anyone know what positions are vancant. if the vacancies are non driving then you would have got an opportunity to sign for a full time job in seniority order. However unfortunately the jobs which were vancant required drving and therefore your inablity to drive meant you could not sign for these vacancies. Now people who mentioned that the way forward did not have. Driving down as a skill are throwing a red herring to you. First could a non driver sign for a collection route or firms run ? Of course they can why ? cause it requires someone tod drive.

CDVs duties now require someone to. Drive and therefore that is why you could not get a duty as a non driver.

Now in terms of whether you would support a strike or not , I have heard this since I joined in 1984 and after 3 weeks out in 1988 under DRAS lost of people said that but we had more strikes during the 1990s and 2000s locally and nationally than ever before both unoffically and officially and people always judge it on the issue in front of them.

Isolated ? I have never felt so isolated at work my colleagues all stabbed me in the back, as for the union I know people in my office who have got the same pay increases and bonuses and more hours than me all because they didn't go on strike I went on strike twice for my colleagues and for what exactly ? To be told im no longer wanted or needed f**k that and f**k royal mail they are and always will be a bunch of c***s in my office.

At least 8 that I know of in my office have been made up from 22hr to 31.5hr contracts that is a huge increase in wages and me little old me gets a 1.5hr bump. Makes me so proud to be in a union that looks after it members and a business that does as "tevez" would say treats me like a dog. f**k royal mail and the union.
