Greetings .... I am a postie at ********** . I have been recently suspended for three weeks on full pay for some misdemenour of which i am unsure of : they say willfull delay of the mail ( d2d ) ... the issue appeared to have been resolved 3 weeks ago when management dropped charges and invited me back to work ... the office manager made no explanation as to why i was asked back to work and to be honest i thought i wouldn't rock the boat and just carry on as usual .... HOWEVER ....... 3 weeks after returning to my normal duties it seems that i will indeed be charged under the disciplinary actions of rm ... charges yet to be confirmed ....
wouldn't you think that this should have been dealt with immediatly after my suspension and not weeks later ... ?? or is this acceptable behaviour of rm management ??
any clues or insight would be MOST WELCOME X

When you were suspended you should have received a letter detailing the reasons for suspension and the charges you were facing.
When your suspension was lifted you should have received a letter detailing the reasons for lifting the suspension and whether you would still be facing charges.
This procedure has to be done in writing.
Why this didn't happen is something you should take up with your office rep,manager and area rep.

You could have been asked back to work due to low staffing levels.
As you've received nothing in writing before or after suspension then we could assume that this is just scare tactics, a 'warning shot across the bow' so to speak, this matter could be easily delt with by the union rep.

There is a strict procedure to follow with suspension cases and must be adhered to no matter what, so the fact you've had nothing in writing plus no explanation i suspect that your suspension cannot be upheld within the given time limits given.
RM is a joke with things like this always looking to save a few quid.

See your union rep and get this sorted on Monday!!

When used correctly by a good rep RM's oh to often failure to stick to their own procedure can be used to get any charges dropped immediately. So get onto it straight away with the support of your union, make it quite clear to the manager involved if and when they try to bring any charges that they have broken/ignored procedure and you will be taking out a grievence against them. Most of all do not go in alone take your rep in with you or a colleague on whom you can rely to witness the matter.

You say willful delay of D2D, but in what sense?

Are you a PT or FT employee, as in in your walk meant to be prepped before your arrival?
If PT, did your lino specifically inform you on arrival of anything left to do before bundling up and then request that you complete prep?
Are they accusing you of willfully not prepping the 1/6th of the walk D2D per day?
Are they accusing you of leaving some D2D in the frame that was prepped for delivery that day, but you left it because there was no other mail for certain addresses?
Are they accusing you of taking the D2D out with you, but then dumping some in a bin?

eek... Best not get in trouble then...especially since i'm off Uni. this summer
