2 weeks into our revision
Hello, I'm new to this forum, but it's very interesting seeing it's not just our place having problems.
Anyway at our place they are going to do the resign after the revision process is complete,so not really changing times yet, just got 12 mins less a day to make it 39 hr week.
The problem at our place is the jobs seem like about 50% are workable and the other 50% arn't, anyways at our office like I guess alot of ther offices people are used to having breaks at the end of their shifts,I know it isn't legal etc but that's how it's been.
Anyways what management are doing now is, if anybody says they don't have time to do their delivery they have to have their break before they go out, but everybody else can still have theirs at the end and can even book overtime if they go over their finish time( that's the time you finish with having your break at the end) surely this is a case of bullying??? It should be the whole office have their break.

All your colleagues should be taking atleast half their break before leaving the office its not bullying its just enforcing the rules, there maybe abit of favouritism towards people who are completing as they should not be booking OT that is essentially their meal break this was stopped after our revision.
Personally i don't know why or how people can do 8-10 hour shifts without a break.

Re: 2 weeks into our revision
if we get out on time 9:25 (rarely) we just get finished by 2;30 cutoff time but they now enforce the break of 20 mins before we go out so of course we can't finish on time. The thing is who needs their dinner at 9 before a long rush round, we'd rather get the important stuff out of the way then say by 11 have a break in the van or at a cafe followed by the rest of the delivering then the last 20 mins break at the end . But how do you get through to a deaf, dumb and blind kid who sure plays a mean pinball, sorry listening to Elt, kid who only shouts rules at us.
Why are lino's paid full-time ??

Yes I agree people don't feel like having their break that early and should b built into having it say halfway around delivery, but my point is how can management force some to have breaks but others not.

What difference would it make you having a break at 11 or 9 as you say you can only finish on time if you didn't have a 20 min break. Sounds like your delivery is 20 mins too long if you can only get done by not taking a 20 min break before you go out.5plusbonusball wrote:if we get out on time 9:25 (rarely) we just get finished by 2;30 cutoff time but they now enforce the break of 20 mins before we go out so of course we can't finish on time. It is too long , having a break early I feel I cant get off my tush and face the world now, but while i'm getting bagged up and loading the van i'd just love to shoot off and deliver the stuff at peak performance then slow down, as for enforcing breaks , if your dom's boss says when you cut off "did they have a break " then thats ok as the dom is not at fault.

Yes I hear what u r all saying, but I don't get why they r happy to pay ppl who don't cut off overtime. For example say shift is 6-2 they finish at 2 they are allowed to book 40 mins overtime, how's that fair. Everybody should have their break not just pick on certain people because they say they r going to cut off.

that is wrong , no overtime allowed here now, maybe they are related to the bosses?

Re: 2 weeks into our revision
Well most the office run around,Tuesday the next batch of rurals change,so will see how it goes.i think the problem has been in this job,ppl are used to having breaks at the end of shift so it's hard for people to change. But problem is our managers are using that to their advantage by letting ppl what don't cut off have their break at the end. Proves how thick managers are though,I know the law is u can't have your break at the end etc, but if they were to let the ppl who cut off have there break at the end, they probley wudnt mind going over their time a little, hence not such a big cutt off.

There is always time for a paid meal relief entitlement, this ultimately might mean you have to choose getting extended delivery authorised or agreeing what to do with the excess you cannot deliver by your contract finish time.

Had similar problem in our office. People who work to their hours being forced to flex 30 minutes if say going over, whereas the ones who complete whatever, are paid the overtime. Surely the reason for flexing is to save on overtime, whereas in this case it is being used against those who cut off, to avoid getting someone else to do the excess, while those that complete continue to be paid overtime.

Re: 2 weeks into our revision
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FLEX FOR 30 MINS YOU CAN ONLY BE ASKED AND IF YOU AGREE IT NEEDS TO BE PAID BACK THE SAME WEEK eg start later or finish 30 mins earlier another day.Lincox wrote:Had similar problem in our office. Re: 2 weeks into our revision
If they are working the full 8 hours with no break, they are idiots, but entitled to be paid 40 minutes overtime.
