what happens to the bikes?

our do has long since stopped using bikes (nearly all p&l now), but there are still a few of them knocking around in the sheds.

what happens to them? i can think of some good use i could put one to, but who would i ask if i can buy borrow one on a fairly permanent basis?

Q. What happens to cycles removed as a result of the new delivery methods? Can our people buy them for a nominal fee?

A. Cycles that are made surplus will be redeployed to other offices, not yet adopting Delivery Methods, to allow the disposal of cycles reaching the end of their normal lifespan.

It’s Royal Mail policy that cycles are not donated or sold to RMG staff, members of the public or other organisations for reuse or resale within the UK. Surplus cycles no longer required for operational use will be donated to the charity "Re-cycle" who supplies them for use in Africa.
If they are unfit for use they are disposed of by scrapping.

Royal Mail used to sell obsolete ones at a very reasonable price to posties.

You forgot to add is there a limit to the number of bikes you can have? and can you add your own money?

We had this when we changed from the single speed to 3 speed bikes. Can't remember what the charge was and a few did buy the bikes. All the rest if I remember ( it was in the courier ) all went to Africa. Seemed to stop when we went to mailstars back in 200????

They should hang onto the bikes because when RM finally come to their senses and realise that this stupid park and loop is never going to work then they can go back to the bike.
