Yes we get packets and oversize.
We don't use the loops that the planner originally set. We used some common sense and work on smaller loops moving the van more often, dropping off oversize and larger packets - carry small packets with bundle or in those nice big inside pockets that the fleecy's have. Oh and the bundles can be on the large size but the system works well for us.

With a couple of 600 call deliveries you would need to move the van 20 times.
That's crazy just to save yourself using a trolley.

For both duties its a total of 34 bundles and 17 stops. Yes its dependent on workload but generally works very well after careful planning over the first month.
Not actually counted the maximum number of items per bundle but in old money on a bad day you could be talking starting out with a 10 inch high bundle and 4-5 small packets. Loop times of around 15 minutes.

I don't see it as inefficient at all. I can only speak for myself but I enjoy the job and haven't gone over in 5 months. Knackered when i get home yes but arn't we all?
Time between stopping the van and delivering first letter is seconds. Time from last letter in bundle to driving off to next loop also seconds. (Nice even splits).

As per second part of the question I haven't asked them but as the job always gets done properly its never come up.
I start work at my start time, get out at a reasonable time and have to say enjoy work more now than before the revision.
I feel uncomfortable saying that because nothing lasts for ever and nothings written in stone. But for now its working well.

Depends on Office,
Some I know 50% of staff use a trolley proably a further 10% would like a trolley if they could get one,10% use bikes,the rest are macho men and runners and insist on carrying overweght bags .

Other offices with P+L few use a trolley or have a break ,some use cars unofficialy,whole office is out to make time,lucky they still have night shift so little IPS,out the door just after 8 and then the race begins ,no time for trollies.

Trolley, as that is how the job is intended. If i go back to bag on shoulder i will finish earlier, thus leading to potential absorbing in the future and going out again to finish other peoples cut off's. Why on earth do management not understand that using the trolley adds time on to your delivery?

Royal Mail/CWU need to start, JOINTLY, telling people to use the equipement provided, otherwise thay have just thrown a shed load of money down the pan.

I already move and park my van 23 times (not including the door to door rural bits) and TBH because of the terrain it wont drop much because the the trolly can't be used in a lot of the area..............I suppose the trolly would cut down 2/3 of those stops
