It has to be Tony Kearns with Jeannie Drake taking on SDGS/Treasurer.

Tony is not a member of the Labour party. He is a committed socialist and supporter of a number of organisations that campaign and lobby to make society a better place

is this a start of an election campain, if so bring it on, we need someone not affiliated to the labour party (ie ) no political ambitions

Totally agree have no faith whatsoever in the leadership of this union ie BILLY HAYES once a P***K always a P***K.Have even less faith in him after reading things on this web-site.

A vote of no confidence in the GS of this union ( we will reserve judgement on the DGS for the moment)and lets move this on.

Agree we need a new GS asap. Hayes is a complete embarassment! No wonder RM treat the CWU as a joke.

Sadly I think the fact that Tony Kearns is happy to be an SDGS should rule him out. We need strong leaders not people who are happy to sit in the shadows. They do say that deputies never go on to do any good when they get the full jobs. Much like when assistant managers become managers in football. Very rarely works out.

I say Ward GS and Pullinger DGS(P) or vice versus!

I don't think we should even consider the present incumbents for any position of responsibility.

We should look to keep control of the union within the rank and file by means of a committee. I don't mean the sheep and sheep dog approach we have now and I'm not talking 25 either.

We would have a democratic approach as to how the union is run and EMPLOY people directly to fulfil any post considered necessary. Not elected but salaried - that way they cock up and they're out.

I employ a builder to build a wall, a plumber to fix the pipes, an electrician to rewire my house but for my working life future I elect someone and pay him pretty well, now any of the others cock up and they don't get paid but guess what...............

I agree I think every body that is elected to a post of full time officer should still remain on the wage of a postman and be fully accountable to the workforce only remaing in office for about one possibly two years and then returning to their job. They would receive expenses for doing the full time position but again these would be made public and fully accountable to the memebership.

Vote them in for no more than 12 months at a time with instant recall if they're not doing the job. After one year, they're up for re-election. They're there to represent us, not themselves or a political shower of shysters hiding behind red rosettes. Never mind secret talks with parasites. Let's get some people in with a bit of fight and who haven't forgotten the class they came from. Pay them no more than those they represent to focus their minds on the job in hand.

Is there anbody on the telecoms side of the union that would make a good GS or SDGS in your opinion? Jennie Drake, Dave's counterpart on the telecoms side?

Do you think TK is doing a good job as SDGS?

Telecoms you must be having a laugh. They're all more interested in full release and political correctness than looking after members!

Its good to debate who amongst senior union bods would make a good GS.

What qualites would we look for in canidates for a future GS election?

I am a mere 32 years old so will proably see another 3 at least GS come and go before i reach retirement age.

Billy whether you think he is fab or crap wont be around for ever!
