Full Conduct Code

Can anyone provide the full conduct code? I have been given one under the terms of -

-"Missing from point of Duty"
-"Wilful delay of mail"

I work nights in a sorting office.

long story short i was away for around 7 minutes (it is accurate) as i had to go to the car.

Not a rep - but although I have not heard this in Royal Mail, I have heard the term in other jobs. It basically is a posh way of saying that you were absent without permission.

To be frank, if you are leaving the building outside of normal breaks its always a good idea to ask a managers permission, just to protect yourself. I am NOT accusing you but look at it from another viewpoint, how many postal workers have been stopped by IB and then when their car has been searched mail has been found. If mail is going missing at your office and IB are watching they WILL find it suspicious that you have left without permission, and gone to your car.

Hopefully you will just a written warning in this case.

Wilful delay seems a bit harsh - but then I suppose it depends what you do and what the consequence of your absence was.
Why did you HAVE to go to your car?
There would be an enormous difference between fetching your insulin or needing a hair of the dog.

I have a on-going greivence against the manager, i personally think he's trying his luck.

Bascially i was late to work and asked to make up the additonal 30 minutes which was no problem. I went to the car simply to get some coffee mix before everyone runs out of the door. I was gone for 10 minutes.

Not wanting to be harsh but if you have a grievance against him, and you were late in that day, then it was perhaps a little reckless on your part if you left your work area without getting permission from him, or at least from someone in authority. On that day, with the history you have with him, I would have been doing everything by the book.

Speak to your rep. If you were missing from your work place for 7 minutes then using the CC is a waste of time especially if you were going to get headache tablets. however you should have cleared it with your line manager because they have a care of duty towards you especially with regards to fire risks. An apology should suffice get the rep to help.

Then go to Area.
If they are talking about wilful delay and possible dismissal you need an Area Rep on board anyway.
