Terms and Conditions

Post by packardbell »

Does anyone have a copy of their full time contract ? I have been at Royal Mail since 1980 and would like clarification as to what my hours and days of attendance are.

But things have changed since 1980 so I don't see what good your contract would be in regards to working days and hours of attendance. Back then it was a 6 day working week and a 41.5 hours working week.

it has all changed now since the pay and mod and BT 2010 agreement
flexibility is the key issue along with 39 hour week, longs and shorts, etc, etc

Thanks for the ambiguous replies . When I started in 1980 we worked mon-fri with sat as overtime and i worked this arrangement until about five months ago when my boss decided to pull the plug. Can Royal Mail change my hours of attendance on a whim ?

NEED SOME MORE INFO

as a rule no, they cant change your attendance times on a whim
consultation for a start
have you gone through a delivery methods revision which long and shorts are linked into

the bt 2010 explains all about this

are you in a delivery office, mail center, do you have local agreements,

these things are normally decided by collective bargaining

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

To all concerned I have been at Royal Mail since 1980 so coming up for 32 years service. Despite taking out a grievance stage 2 and 3 the outcome has been that I am obliged to work 6 days a week. The alternative would be rolling day off , which I do not want to do,as I have child care issues. Now after nearly 8 years of having alternative Saturdays off to facilitate this it has been withdrawn. I have been off work for 5 months with stress, a situation I would not wish anyone to experience. I am ashamed to be on antidepressants something I thought happened to others. Now I have to tell my boy that I can not look after him and he will have to be farmed out somewhere. I can't wait for Royal Mail to be privatised , maybe I will get redundancy I am just glad that I am 50 and not 30 .

but why are you asking for the 1980s contract when you are only talking about recent times
what does the rest of your office work?
why are you doing SA if Saturdays are an issue for you?

I must be missing something because i can't see how working 6 days a week would be preferable to a rolling day off if you have childcare issues.
I could see where 1 in 2 saturday's off would be....but i think a lot of members feel that way.

And why can't you wait for RM to be privatised? Do you think all those new share-holders will listen to your child care issues and act for you, or is it just "hitting back" in some way? Grievances, indeed....

If you are a single parent and your child is still at school there may be a case of discrimination against RM ?
