LBT:Business Transformation - CWU/Royal Mail Future Talks

Post by POSTMAN »

10 February 2012
LTB 093/12 Business Transformation - CWU/Royal Mail Future Talks

No:093/12
Ref: 25000
10th February 2012

TO: ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS

Dear Colleague

BUSINESS TRANSFORMATION - CWU/ROYAL MAIL FUTURE TALKS

Following our recent discussions with Royal Mail, Branches will be aware that good progress has now been made on Pay, Delivery, Mail Centres, extending current MTSF terms and a new initiative to improve local relationships.

During this period the National Parties have also been exploring how we can jointly bring more structure and greater commitment to ongoing National Talks.

This has involved scoping, agreeing and prioritising the negotiating agenda into an overall Project Plan with target milestones for completion.

The first milestone was about resolving some immediate problems relating to the above issues and Branches will have seen the various LTBs published this week reporting the significant progress made.

The next stage is to get into immediate talks and resolve a range of issues that can help build further momentum on the deployment of the Business Transformation Agreement. The next phase agenda includes ColleagueShare, World Class Mail, Absorption Guidelines, Extended Job Security, further Relationship Initiatives and some outstanding Pay related matters. This next phase of talks brings forward some very important and longstanding agenda items for the Union and reaching a successful outcome will be a major test for both parties.

A final phase of talks are then scheduled with the joint ambition of reaching a major new Agreement that is about making the commitment to develop a culture of mutual interest a reality for everybody. The agenda items listed for talks under this phase are intended to break new ground for the Union and the company. If successful these negotiations will bring about a radically different governance model and a vastly improved industrial/employee relations environment. The National Parties have also targeted a settlement on 2013/14 Pay and the completion of reviews into MTSF and all HR procedures as part of this Agreement.

The detailed Project Plan agenda has been shared with CWU Divisional Representatives and Royal Mail Regional Managers and progress will be subject to regular Reports.

The scheduling of these talks also has the full backing of the company's Chief Executive, Moya Greene.

Although the Union recognises that we face an intense period of what will undoubtedly be difficult negotiations, the Postal Executive has welcomed the renewed commitment from the company to now move things forward at pace.

Against this background, the Union has again confirmed our full commitment to the successful deployment of the Business Transformation Agreement in all locations. We know that delivering this scale of change will be far from easy, but it is definitely in the interest of our members, customers and the company, that we jointly bring about the successful transformation of Royal Mail.

We want all CWU Representatives to fully engage in revision activity, properly consult local members and deliver all the benefits due as part of sustainable Local Revision Agreements.

In the meantime, the National Parties will continue with the next phase of our talks and we hope the outcome of these will help build further momentum, alongside closer monitoring of overall progress from CWU Divisional Representatives and Regional Managers.

Any enquiries on the general content of this LTB should be directed to the DGS(P) Department and any specific functional enquires should be directed to the appropriate National Officers.

Yours sincerely

Dave Ward
Deputy General Secretary (P)

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

It is really worrying that the union believe that the guidelines released this week have resolved the delivery issues.
Out of touch does not even come close to describing that position.

They seem to be marching on without the membership,it's a very arrogant and dangerous position to take.
If the revisions still fail, still do not produce the benefits for the membership and management continue in their present mode of not particularly giving a toss at local level what will be their fall back position?
They are burning bridges on a daily basis now, they had better have something truly spectacular at the end of it or they are finished.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Surely most Cwu members have Email now, so why can't the LtB's be sent direct to members via Email? Don't worry yourselves though, it'll all be over on December 22nd. You have been warned. :wave

Anyone who saw Dave Wards little vignette on CWU TV knew the deal was done and the membership have been stitched up like a kipper yet again. Colleague share, WCM et al, including pay for 2013/14 will now be discussed...................they march on like the little drummer boy - never looking behind truly believing we are all marching to the sound of the same drum and all problems have been resolved. The same old platitudes of full involvement, new understanding - what planet are these pillocks on. In the current climate I'd suggest they start looking for a partner to amalgamate with because they are not going to survive as a stand alone union much longer. Even the staunchest supporters must begin to question the sanity of the leadership, they must be the worst negotiators ever. Their mindset is definitely questionable - I mean supporting workfare should have been the final straw. I haven't noticed any of the officionados making a statement of support for this ill thought out acceptance of slave labour and no doubt they will be in tune with the Tories cuts to welfare payments - whilst not making any cuts to their own expenditures.

I though the Colleague share issue was already being talked about. Also longstanding agenda items should they have not been discussed and sorted now, thats what the CWU promised before the talks began. Still maybe the next talks will sort it all out, then again Hell will freeze over first! Do top union officials listen?
