new start times help needed.

Post by columbo »

First of all I would like to say how glad I am at havin found this site, I will make sure I leave a donation due to the helpful people who have replied to my earlier post.
I was wondering if anyone could give me advice about the following.

I am part time on 30 hours, in the summer I got sent to another office(despite not being a floater) and another postperson on the same hours informed me that the people on 30hours will be getting less hours to do after their revision comes.

anyway my revision is a matter of weeks away. And last week our mail has started to come in at a much later time(9:20), and the very same week we got new time sheets.
On these new time sheets it seems that my hours has dropped a little, on a thursday and Friday my hours are 9-2 instead of 8-2. I asked my manager about this and he said just to ignore it and that my hours are still the same (8-2) and that they will be changing in a few weeks with the revision anyway.
the thing is, my manager has me lapsing on these two days and if my actual time was 9-2 I could not lapse.

I thought I would try here for advice first rather than going in guns blazing with the union.
Also our union rep is new and he does not know too much( he is also good friends with manager).
Anyway I thought I would be a better tact if I arm myself with info and approach him in a reasonable manner and if he is not forthcoming then use the union.

Sorry I forgot to add what's the score with the lapsing. Does this have to be done in indoor time.
As in before 10:00

If you on a 30 hour substantive contract (permanent) you cannot be forced to go on a lesser hour contract.
If you have time in your duty span to complete your own duty & lapse, you can be expected to lapse.
This ain't no baseball game, you get only one chance and you blew it.

no I'm sure I still get paid for the 30 hours.
The new time sheets state that on a Friday and Thursday my hours are 9-2 and my boss is saying its still 8-2 which is an hours more work.

If you are doing 8-2 5 days a week then that is 30 hours, what you are contracted to do.
Doubt they would have you doing less hours on a thur & fri especially if lapsing days.
So if I am reading your post right I think your Dom is right to say ignore the new time sheets.
Unless you are on longs & shorts 8-2 is your contract hours 5 days a week.
This ain't no baseball game, you get only one chance and you blew it.

I appreciate your reply and I understand what you ate saying, the thing is I have grown to become a bit suspicious of my DOM. I will phone the union and ask them.
