Paying Overtime Problems

Simple situation - I'm a 5hr a day contract but always do 6hrs. This has been happening for around 4 or 5 months which is fine and suits me better. For the last 6 or 7 weeks my overtime hasn't been paid correctly, I'm always an hour or two down on what it should be. I write everything down, pester, nag and still it doesn't all get put right so it's gets a real mess when you're owed bits from here and there. The only time it gets put right is when a stand in manager from another depot is in, but he's not been there for a few weeks recently.

I know it sounds petty quibling over a few hours here and there but I've done the work and I want paying. It's giving me headaches trying to pester and explain what I'm still owed and from when. Tomorrow I'm going to say I want everything bringing up to date in my next payslip otherwise I'll take it further - question is what can I actually do to take it further? Can you put a grievance in or something?

Bang a Grievance in. That'll sort it. Either you keep wearing this abuse or you stand and fight for what is right. One thing though; you're doing right keeping records. Photocopy any sheets which are authorised too

That's ok if you don't need the £££ for something like a holiday, stuff for the family, single parent or debts payment for Christmas. I don't know this person but they could even be on only a 20 hour contract. "Working your hours" is ok if you're on a 40hr week to a degree, but if they puts in a Grievance, the way I was thinking, he/ she still works their overtime but also gets the matter sorted out. My thoughts anyway. Tis their choice...

If they are in the CWU, even try approaching the Rep and going in jointly with the rep and themselves to see if they can sort the issue out without going down the Grievance path.

Dave I agree with what you are saying to a degree, yes go in with the Rep give it a week ,if still no payment then work your contracted hours no good doing overtime if you are not being paid for it.

I hope you are using your CWU diary or something similar to write your daily hours down, are you then checking this against the overtime log book to see when and how much time is being removed?

Who is filling in the overtime docket? You are responsible for filling your own claim in in an honest fashion and signing it.

What have you said to your union rep and what have they done?

Are others getting legitimate o/t claims fudged?

On a weekly basis, after seeing your wageslip on Thurs/Fri/Sat, you should be entering a pressure overtime docket claim cause of "belated" to account for any unpaid work.

On a sidenote, you are taking your 30 minutes paid meal relief, aren't you? If you ever went past 7 hours work, you are entitled to an extra ten minutes.

Thanks chaps, think I've finally sorted it out today in the end - Thursday will bring the result I suppose. I could write about what was said today but frankly I'm too pi$$ed off with the whole place to be bothered wasting any more energy on them. All advice above appreciated greatly
