Hi, our office is in its first week of the new 39 hour week revision, we've a big problem of our hours not matching up and management don't seem to care! I myself have picked a 9 day fortinght duty. I'm now on that duty but have been asked to work the hours 6-30 to 15-15(ish) which is fine if I was actually doing a 9 day fortnight. I've been told I'm just getting one day of a week for a while until everything goes through (could be ages!). So in theory I should be working 6-30 to 14-30? No? My gaffers don't seem to care if I'm doing 30-40 mins of work for free every day. I brought back 2 bags of mail at 14-30 today and I think i'm entitled to. Anybody agree or have any advice?

Your days and hours must have been agreed at some point and must be written down somewhere.
Anything over that is overtime.
If they want to offer you overtime during the bedding in period - fine.
If you want to do it, you do it and get paid for it.
If you don't.......you don't.

As long as you and your partner work the hours asked of you. What can management do. Just get your partner to back you up and demand a revision of the revision if you feel it's not balanced right. There are sad times ahead for everyone working for royal mail.
