Park and loop in garforth D.O

hiya everyone, we just started our van park and loop on monday and ive had to cut off, there is no way it physically can be acheived........unfortunatley the planner we have doesn't seem interested in the problems we are having......he asked me how we got on today, and i told him that if it wasn't for having help that we would have brought alot back to which he replied that we must be doing something wrong, as we havnt got any packets,specials or tracked yet and we are getting people in early to throw rounds in and prep and the computer says we can do it (maybe the same computer that says we have 55mins to prep including door to doors)......its like banging ones head on a brick wall.............i knew it couldn't be the fault of the computer system or the planning team as they are always right and its always a performance issue with the postmen..........walking too slow etc.......why can't they accept its a bad idea? 2 billion pounds of investment for zero return, who is in charge of the math at royal mail???? if moya runs the post office like she did canada post we will be on strike every week....................i can see no light.....only a long dark tunnel with health problems at the end......

we started our p and loopy this week too and what with heavy snow they picked the best week to start it. Today i cut off 3 heavy bags left to go, van partner wanted to carry on but i point blank refused to work past my allocated hours. So we drove back and the manager immediately blamed me for holding everything up, i just looked at the clock and said "my time is up see you later" I did my job to the letter and schedule given to me they will get nothing more. I do like van sharing tho gives me a witness to how hard we work and he is a great postie but felt guilty giving up (old school commitment to the bitter end type). Simply the planners have given us to many calls to finish in the hours allotted and i can see us cutting off everyday.

Why people get into a tizzy about being unable to complete totally unrealistic workloads, beats me, it really does.

just work you hours, bring no emotion into it, let the planners have a go.

Just yesterday , we were so busy (having a quieter than usual wednesday) and just wanted to get packed up and head out into the ice , which was due to get worse by 2pm. Then fresh out of his office came the dom (young man with little experience) "10 to 9 tea break time " he shouts, then demands we down tools now and get off the floor.
Ok we must have this break sometimes but we all wanted to just get out. So of course a good few of us cut off at 2:30 as our time was up. That's how it's going to be now as there is just no bargaining with the brainwashed management.
The only problem with that though is it's not the dom's problem cos he goes home at 2 on the dot, he just expects it to be absorbed the next day etc etc.
Somethings going to snap very soon , I expect to see rather a lot of red vans in the auction rooms this time next year, RIP Royal Mail.

If we have one letter left in our office our manager goes bananas cos it's his balls on the line if audited.

Oh it all goes out but he says bring it back if you feel you don't have the time(oversize packets whether recorded or 1st class etc.). The junk and dsa and d2d must be delivered first though!!

No doubt your DOM and/or planners will be telling you it's just 'teething problems'. Well, it's not, and as you've realised, things get a fair bit worse when the Specials, etc. are factored into the equation. Just get used to cutting off, and be preppared to be prep tested a lot, as the problem is obviously your end, as the computer doesn't lie nor make mistakes.
