You will be aware that over the last few weeks we have been undertaking a further review of the Safety concurrence for the new indoor equipment and associated work methods, with the full involvement of the CWU. This work is now complete with all the various concurrence documents having been fully reviewed and agreed by both our Safety colleagues and the nominated CWU representatives.

Well I just wonder with all the diverse office layouts how they expect this to be a universal standard............I mean one bloke was on about a ballot the other day with 16 members.............is it just another case of winners and losers. We are about to embark on another revision, the vast majority of which looks to be a revisit to the previous one 16 months ago to rectify those faults, whilst the vast majority of offices have yet to have a single revision.

I think it will be a universal standard in the new super duper mega DOs they intend to build. (6 offices into 1 in Glasgow's East End)
Otherwise most of it would be irrelevant in a small DO.

RM/CWU Indoor Work Methods Guidance Version 1 February 2012 - Involvement and Consultation with Branch ASRs



The Health and Safety Dept has received a number of queries from Branch ASRs regarding consultation on this matter. As a result, direct representation was made to Ricky McAulay RM National Safety Director in line with the RM/CWU Health and Safety Representation and Consultation Agreement, Safety Representatives and Safety Committee Regulations, and HASAW Act.



Subsequently Ricky McAulay RM National Safety Director issued the following to all RM Regional Safety Directors :



'Can I ask that you make contact with your indoor work methods (formerly FLOW) leads within the regions if you have not already done so, to ensure where we are making indoor changes (backless frames, layouts etc) we are affectively consulting with CWU safety reps as well as IR reps. I discussed this matter with Dave Joyce National Health, Safety & Environment Officer and Gerard Harkin last week and I gave an assurance that we would of course fully consult on the H&S implications of these changes'



Any queries regards the recently issued LTB 070/12 on this subject should be raised direct with Bob Gibsons Dept, any Branch ASR queries regards consultation should be raised with the H&S Dept. Would those Branch ASRs who contacted the H&S Dept on this subject, consider this a response to their query.
