just wondering what other offices are doing do you use them at all ?

we was told we dont have to use them so no one does they just left in vans or under fittings

Who is spinning the yarn that use of LWTs on a P&L route with two posties in a van is optional? My understanding is their use is compulsary and someone in your depot is telling massive porkies because they know full well that if correct RM procedure is followed, there will either be cut-offs or lots of extended delivery, because the delivery spans (excluding travel time; replinishment; paid meal relief; loo break; sorting out failed items back at depot etc.) are simply too big for the contract hours!

Do the job properly according the agreed spec between RM and CWU, if you want the extended delivery get it authorised, if you want to finish at your contract finish time ask your manager what they want to do with the unachievable workload as soon as possible (ideally before going out on delivery)...

Heard a rumour that MK in northern ireland is telling the managers that the LWT's are only work tools that can be used to help aid the job.

...for what its worth..most 'park and loops' in my office are planned without the use of LWT,this is because of the large number of tenements and the security issues that arise having to leave LWT at bottom of stairs.So we are doing small loops with 5kg bags and also 11kg bags on any skyscraper on the delivery(this has been passed by CWU apparently) ..of course in reality the 5kg bags sometimes become 14kgs then throw in carrying the odd 'drivers packet' under one arm and there you have it -Bobs(gibson) your Uncle..

Yes falling up steps you have less distance before impact, going down and the impacts can just keep coming.

But the weight of the bag on your shoulder doesn't make falling down the stairs any more likely.

I would say carrying a heavier bag makes it more likely to fall down stairs-give me my kewpie doll!..but whos right about the skyscraper weight? 5kg or 11kg?..I have been told the 11kg has been approved..

As someone with a vested interest in pouch weights in tenements etc - I have never seen any documentation to suggest the weight limit should be reduced in buildings with a lift.
The reduced weights are for going up, not coming down.

No neither have I..dare I say its a London thing?...but this is park and loop and the deal is weight off the back so not sure having 2 huge skyscrapers and two 11kg bags and therefore having no weight off the back for an hour meets the criteria ?

Agreed.
But those of us that don't deliver to front doors are always going to be second class citizens.
If I could get the duties going up using 5kg bags and 5kg bags only, I wouldn't shed too many tears for people walking down tower blocks.

the old bags were supposed to be completely removed from office and the small dinky bags were to replace them..this has not happened and as usual blind eyes fae the planner,DOM and AR.

There is no way i would swallow 11kg bags on our high rises for revision purposes.

when the CWU AR swallows the rest have to swallow as well..though of course I spit it out later
