L/W trolleys in snow+ice

Be interesting tomorrow how these L/W trolleys go in the snow and ice and what happens on gradients without brakes :whistle
In deep snow I would have thought it would be a lot harder to pull

They shouldnt be used in snow and icy conditions. Didnt you have a brief??? :wink:

So what do we use. Our normal bikes will be a no no. We have no vans, only the rural/parcel van, a few old l/w trollies. Any suggestions, or do we refuse to go out on H&S grounds.

your dom and rep need to instigate the severe weather action plan, its an automatic process which will state if deliveries go out or not

its an online program with drop down menu to be done on the day

Yep it's going to b very dodgy tomorrow, problem is the managers see the main roads are ok so they say we ok to go out, they don't think of the rural roads! We have a good health and safety rep so we should be ok.

Its the pavements i'm worried about not looking forward to dragging trolley about tomorrow infact i might take sledge in and ask if i can put my bags on that would be easier.

From what I remember from a previous briefing the LWT's should'nt be used. Also recall something about carrying pouches, no more than 8kgs. You'll have to break down your loops. Make sure you get your spikies issued as you will need them. Also try and carry a few empty sacks in the van incase you get stuck, stick them under the wheels for a bit of traction.

The safe systems of work does mention that the trolleys should not be used in snow and icy conditions unless the paths have been cleared. It does not mention any alternative.... :shock:
