Regarding P&L and proper "Cutting Off" Procedure.

Hi all, we go live with P&L on Monday and i have a few questions i'm struggling to get answered. Our new finish time is now 2:45pm, which is fair enough but i am unable to work past that time due to matters in my personal life. My manager is a very tough-but-fair type so if i'm cutting off i want to be doing it right.

They say that you have to deliver whatever you take out, but what if you cut-off and miscalculate and still go over your time? Is it actually okay to just bring back what you are unable to complete or do you always have to leave what you feel you are unable to complete in the frame?

Rep has told me OFTEN only take out what you can deliver. Don't bring mail back, although I often bring packets back.

You should inform your manager on completion of Prep that you may not finish on your time. He should instruct either : take the mail out and call him at a time when you will know whether you can complete. He should arrange delivery of this mail. He may instruct you to take enough to complete either by streaming out non USO and time sensitive items or by taking a portion of the delivery agreed with you.He should arrange delivery of this portion. He should note the traffic and your request.
Your Rep will keep you right and don't be intimidated and your doing nothing wrong.

Put the decision in his hands (or arse, as that's probably where his brain resides). When you are finished prepping and know that you will not be able to complete, ask him whether he wants you to leave some in the frame, or take it all out and phone him later (I'm not fond of the latter, as that means you have to use YOUR phone credit to solve his resourcing problem). If he tells you to do the former, make sure you don't under-estimate how much you need to leave in the frame.
