This morning was summoned to the office where our over keen dom read me a customer complaint stating i have been driving too fast up there driveway!!
The driveway in question is a huge one ( 1/2 mile long) leading to a manor house where the lady of the manor has said im driving too fast... I personally dont think i am ...

However the complaint has come through and the dom had to tell me about it... i then had to sign something to say he had informed me about it and told me that he has told his boss that the next time something like this happens i will be removed from driving!!????????

Can a customer with no proof of my speed and in a situation of my word against theres really have this effect?

spoke straight away to the unit rep who told me to ignore him as he is just using typical scare tactics and that he hasnt a leg to stand on!!! is this just typical behaviour of a average dom!

"that the next time something like this happens i will be removed from driving" - call his bluff, most DOMs can't get enough drivers anyway, with no allowance paid, responsibility for the vehicle, risk of accidents, etc.

In one word "yes"

A dom will always take the customers side and issue a warning iam affraid.

Personally i would just drive real slow up the long drive and take it on the chin. If he does remove you from driving that is a different matter of course.

The problem with picky customers is that its their property your on if they say you are driving too fast then you are(im on your side by the way)i have a customer who complained because i was walking on her gravel drive,like someone else said take it on the chin ,develop a thick skin and laugh it off ,they have nothing else to whinge about so lets have a go at the postman lol and as for your dim tell him to take you off driving then watch him back track

it was unreal the way he spoke to me... 1st driving related complaint in 8 years and i was guilty straight away before he even heard my side of the story...
If the police had turned up with hard proven evidence of me speeding then fair enough but to threaten me with removing me from driving was massively over the top... he was like a kid on xmas day with that complaint in his hands!!
Also not happy that the customer felt they couldnt tell me themselves without the need of going to the complaint route!

Rubbish, confront the customer about the speed and then suggest they fit a delivery box at the gates of the drive, then watch them cringe at the thought of walking down a long drive everyday to pick-up the mail and visit the Sorting office for any 739's you may have left

As for the DUM, ignore him as drivers are very scarse these days, too much pressure linked to the van safety etc.

I get your point but unless you like a lot of hassle to mess up an already hard job i would refrain from any confrontation.

I had a customer once complain (years back) about my speed up her long twisting drive (large manor house) and it pissed me off at the time but i did slow down. Following xmas i got a tip so it ended well.

Its not actually the customer thats got to me... its the attitude of the dom to threaten me with taking me off driving when i have denied driving fast up her drive!! He has no proof other than the Toffs complaint and yet he feels thats enough!! like i said earlier if there was hard evidence that i was seen driving like a lunatic then fair enough!!

I'd park outside their drive then walk all the way up and back. Tell your DOM that the customer is going to keep complaining about your speed and that you feel it would be better if you delivered to that address by foot. 1/2 mile there and a 1/2mile back, at least 15-20 minutes.
