sick leave help needed

i am currently on sick leave and have a fit note (not fit to work) for the last 3 weeks. i am back at the doctors on tuesday to see what they say. The problem i have had is the dom has sent me a letter, has been texting and ringing me every other day, and even rang me last sunday asking when will i be back. surely this should not be allowed and is harrasment.

They told me that even with a sick/fit note, you still had to ring in every day. Can't see the point myself, if doc says 3 weeks then 3 weeks it is. If you're off any length of time like this they like to get ATOS involved. Maybe that's why they are trying to contact you. But yes, I would see it as harassment too.

There's a fine line between harassment and welfare, one mans meat is another mans poison so to speak. The DOM may just be a caring person who is genuinely concerned about his welfare.....................yes I know, but you get my point.

Yeah but calling every other day.. Have u spoken to the manager in question or are you just ignoring his calls? Of course, if it's depression or stress from the job you're suffering from then yes, these calls could be detrimental to the OP health..

Yes RM managers are known to be very caring when you're off sick

Hopefully the union is addressing this as we speak.
A new attendance procedure is allegedly in the works.
Hopefully it will address Royal Mail's misuse of it's own sick absence management strategy.
The bottom line is you need to maintain reasonable contact and after 2 weeks they can request a face to face.
If you feel you are being harassed...report it don't let it stand.

You're meant to call in every day to let them know how you're getting on, so if you're calling in, then he shouldn't be calling you. Of course, if it's a Sunday, it's not a working day so he shouldn't be calling you as you wouldn't be calling in work (If you get what I mean?!). However, if you're off for 3 weeks with a fit note, I'd ask the DOM if he wants you to call in every day, as you have a fit note stating you'll be off for 3 weeks, and you won't be coming back in before those 3 weeks are up, so does he still want you to call in each day? I used to email my DOM, just to say nothing had changed, I was still in chronic pain and I was still staying off work as per the note!
