12 week contract
Wonder if anyone can help. I'm on a fixed term 12 week contract which is due to expire in two weeks time. Thought my managers would have given me some kind of indication as to whether or not it will be renewed. Some other people in my office have said if it is renewed you will get a two week gap before coming back, why is this?

You're not an agency worker are you,if you're not,ignore the 2 week thing,rule of thumb seems to be that the managers forget to see you guys and the contract keeps rolling on.

It's some legal loophole RM use. Something like, they have to give you sick/holiday pay if you work longer than 12 weeks continuously at a workplace!

Yes, sadly, a number of firms employ this 12 week thing-including the tax office.-

the 12 week rule is the agency workers directive, if a temporary works past 12 weeks the temporary worker has to be paid the same wage and benefits as a full contractual worker employed by the company
