My workmate had a heavy night sunday and wasn't feeling too well monday.anyway, to cut a long story short, he went home and left his drop bags on the walk. He only phoned the dom when he got home,driver was sent to retrieve bags and when opened dom spotted registered mail in the bundles.
Two questions
How much trouble is he in for going home?
How much trouble for putting regi's in drop bags?
BTW he's been on sick since he went home.

Fair point :-) but it actually is. I'm the nice guy who volunteered to do his walk in the hope that the dom would go easy on him, but I,m not sure that's worked.

Whats wrong with putting Specials in drop boxes like?

If you were ill and you had to go home, so what, you phoned up to inform and the mail was recovered.

You could maybe have called quicker, but don't really see much of a prob if you were ill.

Well we would each have our own theory as to who the twat was.

once again its really upto your o/c.
but you could use your first statement and say while on duty he got stomach cramps
and had to go home due to the runs and being sick.
atleast he reported it.

Personal opinion...
If i was just ill...i would have contacted the office,explained the situation and if they were sending out someone to retrieve the mail or continue the deliveryy i would have waited until they arrived and handed over the specials.
If they didn't plan to send anyone out i would have made them aware of the specials and asked them for clarification.
In circumstances like this i believe the correct procedure would be to hand them in to a local PO or at worst Police Station.
If i was very ill i would have contacted the office and asked for a manager or anyone available to take me home immediately,and obviously take responsibility for the specials.
I would not have left any specials in a drop box under any circumstances.

That depends on the manager,there are mail security implications that could be thrown at him if the manager wants to go down that route.
Whether he could make it stick is another story though.
