Greetings one and all.
It has been a while since I posted but I am still an employee of the beloved Royal mail.
We have an issue at work, somebody has slipped and badly injured themselves.
We are trying to help him in his case.
I have heard that there were/are real problems with the Magnum boots and the union had some literature about injuries
sustained while wearing these boots, I hear there were some articles written including warnings etc.
My question is can anyone point me to any written literature on these boots that we can use to help this guys defence?
Basically he slipped really badly, injured himself and management are trying to blame him and take him down the conduct code for wilful disregard of health and safety procedures.
We want to help prove these boots are inherently dangerous.
Any guidance would be most welcome.

Welcome back. 
There was problems with them but RM got the suppliers to change them,that was yonks ago so the old stock would be gone and we're on the new stock.
Whether the new stock is good enough is another matter.
How the f**k can your guy be done for slipping ffs.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

He slipped whilst stepping out of an artic unit, 44 tonne tractor unit.
He fell and smashed his head open and was off work for 2 months.
Management are trying to blame him for not following the correct procedure of getting out a lorry correctly and so
wilful disregard of health and safety procedure, the next thing he will get will be a five year serious I kid you not.
It's the way things are done at our centre.

The National Uniform Officer, states that the footwear provided to its employees has undergone anti-slip testing.
Just because footwear has passed, (categorised as SRA, SRB or SRC), testing to BS EN ISO 13287 that does not absolve them from ensuring that the footwear is fit for the purposes under which they used in our environment.
Ask them to assure you that all of the items they provide has passed testing to BS EN ISO 13287 and ask them to provide you with the additional information they provided to the Manufacturers to ensure that the footwear was the best choice for your environment. Also ask them to provide you with the coefficient of friction test results for all of the available footwear they provide.

Even changing the laces should only be done by someone who has been trained to do so!
