Christmas week

Been told by our dom today we can not book the christmas week as annual leave this year as christmas eve is on the monday. does anyone know about this?

And what has the fact that Christmas eve falls on a Monday this year, got to do with anything?

I just love this, DOMs seem to think that all that leave will just magic away if they stick their heads in the sand Leave is there and in the budget but because of the brutal removal of people and hours there is no longer the scope to take all the leave............unless you're in London of course.

As Christmas Eve counts as one of the days where annual leave is not applicable over the Christmas period it is not possible to book the whole of that week as annual leave. It will undoubtedly cause problems with people taking the day as a 'sickie' and leaving the DOM/colleagues the difficulty of getting cover at such short notice. For people who may be going abroad for Xmas there is the option of taking the day off with no pay providing cover can be found if sufficient notice is given.

While there may be other options it is a tricky problem to resolve to suit everyone

OUr dom has told us no one in the office can have the week off. i was happy to work the xmas eve and just have the thu,fri,sat off

i got my A/L form back.... i have xmas week off. Counted at 3 days due to xmas day and boxing day not counting as working days
