HI there,i am in the process of Ill Health Retirement after 20 years service,i have been given a estimate and beneath that it says 12 Weeks PILON(If applicable)
What is PILON and will i also recieve this

no you havent mazza, its spot on...looks like this is the cheap way of getting rid of staff....seems a heavy cold now, will get you ihr now. i got it two years after a dog attack. never seen somit happen so fast, being at atos on the tuesday, finished royal mail the following friday

I too left at the end of November,knackers .....
Am afraid I was quite unwell,and was told that my health should always come first ...
I for one am glad that I have left the business,but always sparing a thought for my ex-colleagues that are still being sent head first,down a never ending downward spiral!

In hindsight,are you glad you have left?

The cheapest way is to get you on some trumped up conduct issue, then you get sacked and nothing!

Thanks folks for the quick replies,just to answer a couple of questions for you
I lost my Father October 2010 worked all through the horrendous winter we had in Yorkshire and on my 2 year old lads Birthday basically had a breakdown,i miss my Dad so much and it just hit me,i went off sick for a few weeks went back and due to the Anti Depressants i was taking,i was very angry and paranoid towards other people.
I had some revised duties in the office and then in the May an ongoing problem with my back returned,i struggled on for nearly 3 months doing some re-hab work,which was was being in the office,which i hated
In August i had was told by Physio and Dr that it was not doing me any good working,i was getting worse Physically and Mentally,well not to go on much longer!!!RM approached me with IHR after many telephone appointments i opted for IHR i have been told with my back problems it may be 18 Months before i work again or if nothing improves with my back a lot longer.I am on Morphine for the back pain and still taking the Anti Depressants
I don't feel that i could ever set foot again in that office,i just want to forget Rm and just try and get better,i am only 40
Sorry if i have rattled on a bit,i have found it so easy to tell strangers on a chat forum what has gone on

Sometimes it's easier to talk to strangers than those we love. Depression and anxiety can get better. Counselling or even someone listening to you and understanding can help. It won't happen over night, but don't give up on getting better. I was IHR last March due to knee problems, and have to say that I don't dread waking up every morning like I did when I was in that sht hole of a place. Keep yer chin up and we're here anytime u feel u need a wee rant

With that evidence and given your illness and injury could last many years , I would seriously appeal ( if it's not too late ) on the basis you should be given immediate payment of your Pension .

I've got to have a face to face appointment with ATOS because of my knee injury. I've never had to go and see them before apart from when I was on a Stage 3. Not lining up IHR for me are they as nothing has been mentioned?

royal mail, was once a caring family loving employer. not now, that has long gone. now its " we dont give a s**t". like i said earlier, dog got me, while out on delivery, no bad damage, just soft tissue damage around my ankle. however after a few years, started finding it hard too walk around. royal mail did get and pay for physio, waste of time and money. my own g.p. sent me for tests and an xray. severe soft tissue damage, was told at least 6mths physio. no walking for 3and half hrs a day....hey presto ihr came into play...went to atos. never had a chance to say a word to atos doc. said that he agreed with royal mail on the ihr. did a few ankle exercises in the room. that was that. finished royal mail a week later...oh and they wouldnt let me go back on delivery..said too me " you can go back on delivery if you sign this waivier...i said " you got no chance of me doing that, so was working in the office for my last week.......no after 4mths away from royal mail...honestly say...best thing that even happened to me. im working again....got two mths physio left too do....life is great at the minute...you do have a life once you get out. takes a while too ajust, but you do get there

They certainly could be looking at that option Stormproof. They will tell you when you get there tho if that's what they are recommending.

Thanks for all the replies and kind words people,my IHR is going through,i just want out of the place,strange to think i started 20 years ago and loved getting up on a morning and going to work,in fact couldn't wait!!
as time has gone on to be honest i had started to dread going in,really hated the office and manager,hoping to get sorted out Physically and Mentally and get off all these Anti depressants and Morphine and begin to enjoy my new life away from RM
