Being made permanent after two years?

Am coming up to years soon. Have been on rolling, temporary 3 month contracts.

Does anyone know if they have to make you permanent after two years?

No it's 4 years and they should be formally issuing new contracts every time

We have a collective agreement that two years is the maximum...subject to some conditions.
It is being and has been ignored by Royal Mail for some time.
Some might say the fact that it is being ignored by RM...is being ignored by the CWU.
My advice would be when you hit two years get your rep to flag it up to Branch or even Gibbo himself.
It can't do any harm to try.

leave the cwu out of it fishtank you should know by now our union wants
a quite life any problems they let there members get on with it, we just pay our subs
so they can have wasted talks with higher management it wont be long before we know our fate.

Thanks a lot for the info. Seems to be a bit of a grey area!

Another two years would be fine in a funny sort of way, as that's roughly when I'm planning to jack the job in for various reasons
