Re: how many days annual leave ?
Annual leave is now based on hours so you use whatever hours needed to take the time off

Re: how many days annual leave ?
Under the new system you would multiply that by the basic number of hours you work per day.keithposty wrote:comeracing wrote:i am on 36 at the mo but will prob be on 39 full time after revision,so what will i be entitled to ,please explainDGP1 wrote:Annual leave is now based on hours so you use whatever hours needed to take the time off

The other way of working it out is find out your current entitlement and multiply that by the hours you work a week.
So if you buy leave up to the maximum - 6 x 39 hrs = 234 hours (240 hours if your still on 40) (6 x 36 = 216 hours)
It sounds complicated but there should be no change to your entitlement in days - its just another way of administrating it.

Re: how many days annual leave ?
9 day fortights dont work that way. i think you are getting it mixed up with the 3 weeks on then a week off scenario. on 9 day fortnights the worktime is:- week 1. off tuesday. week 2. off wednesday and thursday. week 3. off friday and saturday and monday, bringing you back to square one. some offices alternate the day off rota, but that is the basic principal. thats the way it is in our office anyway.comeracing wrote:going through early stages of a revision of p&l,talking to most of the office alot of staff are favouring the 9 day fortnight option you work 9 days then get 5 0ff,my queston is if we take this option does our annual leave of 30 days ( 6 weeks ),go down or will it stay the same.

Re: how many days annual leave ?
What happens if one of the weeks you've booked off is the shorter week of a 9 day fortnight, do you get a day back?

Re: how many days annual leave ?
it doesnt work that way.if you book a week off on a week where monday is your day off, then you would use 5 days annual leave. however if you book a week off when you,re days off are wed & thurs, then you would only use 4 days annual leave. you dont lose or gain. but try to pick fortnights where one week you are off on wed & thurs, and you,re second week you are off on a friday and sat. that way you will use less days annual leave, and you wouldnt return back to work till a tuesdayHitcher wrote:What happens if one of the weeks you've booked off is the shorter week of a 9 day fortnight, do you get a day back?

Re: how many days annual leave ?
There are actually 3 different versions of the 9 day fortnight quoted in the Menu of Duty Options.daveyeff wrote: 9 day fortights dont work that way.
Example 1: 9 Day Fortnights (6 + 3)
The first example below illustrates how one Saturday off in every four weeks worked can be achieved. This involves working 9 days then taking the next 6 days off (7 including Sundays). For this solution to work it requires 4 people for every 3 routes working 8 hours 40 minutes each day (equivalent to a 39 hour week).
A normal 5 day attendance pattern would provide 8 days off over 4 weeks (20 days worked). This pattern gives 10 days off over same period (18 days worked). Taking 4 weeks leave into consideration the normal attendance pattern equates to 240 days worked per year = 125 days off. Of this 12 days are Saturdays.
Example 2: 9 Day Fortnights (Shorter Tuesday Attendance)
The next example is similar to the first in that it achieves one Saturday off in every four weeks worked based on working 9 days followed by 6 days off. However the length of day may be adjusted to match workload. For instance, a shorter attendance is shown on Tuesday to reflect lower traffic volume on this day.
Example 3: 9 Day Fortnights (5 + 4)
The third example delivers one Saturday off in every four weeks worked based on a 9 day fortnight with between 4 and 5 days attendance per week. It also delivers a long weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon) every 4 weeks). This gives 12 Saturdays off per year, add to this 4 weeks leave = 16 Saturdays off and 18 Saturdays off with 6 weeks leave. Hours can be arranged to suit local circumstances.
There are actually as many versions as your imagination can come up with.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: how many days annual leave ?
well there you go, i havent seen or heard of the first example, ours is the 3rd but it just goes to show how the time off can be manipulated to you,re advantage. especially if you,s get you,re heads together a come up with ''a cunning plan''.,,,having said that, the rep has told us that rm dont favour these working patterns at all. he reckons they are struggling with coverage etc, and (in our office at least) they are going to consider putting part timers who are on 25hrs a week back onto 5 days a week. it,ll have to be executive action, because i cant see them voting for that.

Re: how many days annual leave ?
they have the same amount of days off as the 9day fortnight lads (6 days over a 4 week cycle) but instead of having a day off each week, they work monday to saturday over 3 weeks, then they are off on the 4th week. when they return to work, they are back for 3 weeks, then off again for the week, and so on. 3 weeks on one off. same start and finish times as us. its just effectively ''saving'' you,re days off then taking them after you,re 3rd week.bringon4dayweeks wrote:how does 3 week on 1 week off work ?daveyeff wrote:9 day fortights dont work that way. i think you are getting it mixed up with the 3 weeks on then a week off scenario. on 9 day fortnights the worktime is:- week 1. off tuesday. week 2. off wednesday and thursday. week 3. off friday and saturday and monday, bringing you back to square one. some offices alternate the day off rota, but that is the basic principal. thats the way it is in our office anyway.comeracing wrote:going through early stages of a revision of p&l,talking to most of the office alot of staff are favouring the 9 day fortnight option you work 9 days then get 5 0ff,my queston is if we take this option does our annual leave of 30 days ( 6 weeks ),go down or will it stay the same.

Re: how many days annual leave ?
If you buy the maximum leave
5 day week = 6 weeks leave x 5 day = 30 days A/L each year
9 day ft night is the equivalent of 4.5 days a week so
6 weeks x 4.5 days = 27 days A/L each year
5 day week = 6 weeks leave x 5 day = 30 days A/L each year

But in hours it should be the same because your days are longer.
