references & CRB check

My son has just got a Postie job offered and a lady rang this morning asking him health questions, she then said a CRB check would be done & that can take 14days and after this he will hear about a start date. As yet no one has asked him who his references are for the job! he has put his previous employment down but it doesn't ask any names of managers or directors etc. Do RM take references?

As a Moderator - No your fine its okay in here. - welcome as well

As an employee - I provided 2 references at my actual interview, but they were never contacted - I know this as I am still in touch with both even now. If he has passed on details of previous employment they may contact them for a generic reference but I wouldn't worry about it. To be honest with the rules and regulations about giving references I don't think many companies even bother with them any more.

OK thanks. Hopefully it wont take too long before he starts! though now all his info they put about the job & what happens next on the summary page of the login has disappeared so he has emailed to see whats happened.

ok in jest, but as new person it takes a while to understand how it works i guess! I dont take offence easily as a rule but only really wanted sensible answers initially to help us understand the process.

Well in truth it is usually the long servers who have become disgruntled with the style of management and what we consider to be a denigration of the service, which as a customer you must have noticed. New starters will only be aware of the service as it is now and will have to put up with "old lags" moaning on a daily basis.
