Are Full time staff needed anywhere?

Almost everyday someone is posting that their DO needs to lose Full time and part time staff due to the revision.

The question is how many DO'S or MC'S need full time staff?

All the DO'S I know only want part time staff.

They only want part time staff, but they need full time.

There is still a lot of work that needs to be done, and this cannot be done by staff on part time hours. You really need 2 f/t for every p/t. One to do the IPS and packets and the other to throw off the p/t walk. Another to throw off the f/t walks would be a bonus.

Full time jobs are a dying trend within RM they are happy with more part timers,I also expect they will try erode full time hours down more in future so say a 36hr contract can be classed as full time.

Managed to get a temporary full time contract, as have a few other part timers in our office. No idea how long it will last, but seems as good as you can get at the moment.

Loads of people in my DO have gone from temp part time ->permanent part time -> permanent full time, sometimes in a different order.

By loads I mean about 10 in 4 months.

and this is why royal mail is in such a mess if you dont wont to work full-time go
and find a part-time job somewhere else.
cut out all these contract and part-timers then we wont have revisions every few years.

Maybe i misread this. I am part time (though not of my choice). Are you saying that I should go and find a part time job elsewhere?

since our union decided to agree to 30 hour contracts or less it has been the start
of management to slaughter postman and postwomen every day in delivery offices
who have only part-time contracts time and time again you hear the famous words
( dont forget your contracts up for renewal ).
yes i do not agree with part-time or contract staff due to the fact it is open to
abuse. even the planning managers sit with there laptops saying part-time staff
are easy targets in revisions.
if you work for royal mail we should all have full-time contracts and be treated the same.
not treated like 2nd class staff who management could not care a toss about.
