Hi could anyone tell me if there is an embargo on transfers throughout the business?? I currently work in delivery and want to transfer to another unit (not delivery) as they have vacancies. I have been on the transfer list for some months, but my rep keeps telling me I have no chance of transfering!. Could someone with any idea please post..... Many thanks

The rep may have an opinion but thats all it is - Its Royal Mail that do the transferring not the CWU so in this case keep badgering your manager. Although, the best way of getting a transfer seems to be going to the Unit you want to transfer to and having a chat with the Head Honcho there.

But, if you are transferring into London, or one of the areas that has a Mail centre that is closing then your reps opinion could actually be a good one, it may be worth doing some research on the area, unit you want to move to.

Individual issues arising with regard to transfers are dealt with by Mark Baulch.
mbaulch@cwu.org.

Transfer Process is now enveloped into the PSP system whatever that means.... :neutral:

Okay, thanks. I have spoken to the manager at the unit I want to transfer to and I perform O/T there as well. The union rep at that unit spoke to a reginal manager (as it is logistics) and they were happy for the transfer, but the rep in my unit (delivery) is saying that the manager will not release me. I always thought that if you have been offered a transfer there was a time span in which it would or should complete (6 weeks)??

I applied for a vacancy, doing the same job at an office closer to my home.
My manager vetoed the request saying that she could not release me due to staff shortages at my office.
I questioned this, but was informed that the manager has the power of veto, and that was the end of the story.
I took this as gospel, but really would like to transfer. Any ideas?
