Recieved a letter today from RM,s Tom Melville stateing late starts changes will take effect from the 22nd Oct !!!

Dear Tom.
In reference to your letter of 12 September 2007. Your right I know the implementation of Network 2007 will later the arrival time of mail into our delivery offices. However I dispute that this is because of changes in the law. Ok I accept that they are limited to 56mph but all vehicles over 7.5 tonnes have been limited to a maximum of 57mph for the last 10 years, so I cannot understand how 1 mph can make a difference of 1hr 15 mins on the arrival time. A journey of 570 miles (the most a driver could do in a standard 10hr shift) will now take approx 10 minutes longer than before. In fact if they were going t 60mph before the difference is still only 40 minutes.
I can only surmise from the first paragraph of your letter that Royal Mail have, allegedly, been removing or tampering with the installed limiters.
The impact of these changes will vary across the country - yes at the whim of the DOM and his savings targets not for operational reasons.
Genuine reasons - how do you determine a genuine reason are you implying that people are lying. Not a good way to treat "our" people.
Of course you have been doing all you can to introduce the change as smoothly as possible because you want a compliant work force who will ask how high when a manager wants us to jump, and flexibility is in one direction only.

Why doesn't "Tom Melvin, Operations Director" have the decency and/or confidence to put his business address and phone number on his letter of 12th September informing us of the intended 8th October date for later starts ?
Without the sender's address a letter is just junk mail so it's going straight in my recycling bin and carrying on with my normal working hours.
