concern over meal breaks

We go live next week and have been told that during the 14 week trial period we can take 20_20 meal relief but after that we have to take the full 40mins before we go out,im sure i read on here that we have the right to vote on this issue,any advice would be gratetful.

The position and duration of your meal relief should have been part of the revision process.
That is where your right to vote begins and ends.
If that information was not made available to the members you have a right to ask your rep why not.
If management have changed that part of the revision without agreement the revision should not go ahead until agreement is reached with the members.

What delivery span is your depot planning to use?
Why would anyone want to use up all their meal relief after simply completing their indoor work, when the outdoor work is far more physical?
Why would you accept this change if it means you are not taking a break of at least 20 minutes in the middle of your working day (if the shift is at least six hours long), going against employments law as I understand it (happy to be corrected)?

It make me laugh in my office , some have 40 minutes some 20/20 and some none at all.
Dom tries to put the floaters with the ones that have the same meal breaks but can't all the time causing lots of arguments.
Also some of the staff still come in early to prep their walks early whilst their partners start at normal time and that causes arguments as well.

If it's only the one break it's got to be taken near the middle of your working hours.

Use it or lose it dude! They closed our canteen in an effort to get us out without a meal relief but it didn't work. If you're entitled to it and getting paid for it, why not take it?

Everyone in our office take it off at the end! in order to finish a little earlier. I think it was agreed with the Dim once upon a time even though he said you're supposed to take it during your shift.

On a related note, if you do 36 hours are you only entitled to 30mins? that's what a lino told us the other day.

It's not your weekly hours that count it's your daily attendance pattern.

5 hours to 7 hours ........30 mins
7 hours 1 to 8 hours 59....40 mins

Yup one bloke I know comes in early but his partner wont.The early one has even started prepping his partners delivery to try and hurry him along!!
