Off sick while on holiday?

I am going for a hernia op next monday and will be off work for a while recovering.The day i go in for operation is the first day of my weeks annual leave.My question is can i claim that weeks holiday back as i was on the sick during that period.If so apart from a doctors sick note is there anything else i need to do? Thanks

simple answer is yes but get a doctors note, even though its still in the first 7 days

you are either sick or on holiday but watch out for any stage warnings if the injury was not caused during work hours
