P+L and Fatige
Just a general question as we have yet to get P+L but have got a lot bigger rounds now.
Do you feel more Fatiged Doing P+L or is it the same as simply doing a single walk.

Re: P+L and Fatige
I've been doing a 5 hour single van delivery for years now, if you take your break and pace yourself then you'll be ok, I don't push myself (don't drag my heals either) and I'm feeling much better than I did in the years that I rushed around in a panic to get finished a bit earlier (and those days the duties were smaller).

Re: P+L and Fatige
Our first day of P&L was during the Summer and i felt like I'd gone a few hundred rounds with Mike Tyson (pre- ear biting and facial tattoo era). I'm just as knackered now after I finish for the day, the only difference being that now I've gotten used to the idea of being gubbed for the rest of the day.kendo1 wrote:Just a general question as we have yet to get P+L but have got a lot bigger rounds now.

I am with DGP1 on this. Ive got a single delivery but its a long one (5hrs today) but as long as you take a break, i try to do at least 3hrs then stop, you can get through ok.
Trouble with park and poop is the different speeds people work.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Re: P+L and Fatige
I detest P&L, I am absolutely knackered every day, I'm with a guy who runs round he cant help it. But since i started P&L, I have had a bad back, foot & hip & I'm only 48. I couldn't do this for the rest of my Postal working life, so thank God for our re sign, firms duty for me on my own, can't wait.

Re: P+L and Fatige
I'm knackered every day doing P&L. Its so tiring and find it very difficult doing 6 days in a row but having that week off every 6 weeks gives me something to aim for. As I've said before now the duties are soooooooo big and we are out longer my knees won't last another 5 years, maybe 1 year if i'm lucky. As for having a break whilst we are out, can't do that as we have the full 40 before we leave the office and there is absoultely no time to stop when you're out there.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

That's why I think the break should be outside when you need it instead of after 2 hours in the morning before you start. What other job makes you take you lunch before you really need it and then don't give you anything when you do need itStormproof wrote:I'm knackered every day doing P&L. We currently have our break before we leave the office ,but I am sure guys in nearby offices have their break when they are out.Me personaly would prefer my break in the middle rather than before you start delivering .

Re: P+L and Fatige
Being a PTer, I take all my meal relief on the road, including any extra entitlement for a shift where I go past 5/7/9 hours. If I did not break up my current walk into approximate thirds with two breaks on the road, fatigue would definitely kick in horribly and that's only on a typical 4.5 hour delivery span (some folks on here write about 5 hour delivery spans every single day... or worse).

Re: P+L and Fatige
obviously I can't relate what I am about to say to everyone on here as I don't know how your are doing your p&l
but in my office I have found those of us that are using the trolleys, doing the job as it should, not making any time but only going over on busy days - they seem fine
Those that are still carrying bags, running round, not taking breaks just so they can finish that bit earlier - well they are fecked - knees hurting, back hurting and generally knackered beyond belief ( as well as letting the rest of us know about it ALL the time)
No sympathy from me i'm afraid - use the tools you are given, that's what they are there for - if you choose not to your problem stop moaning!
