Repicked FT duty, still PT....

Hi, about October time we had our repick for the new PandL revision.

a few of us picked to move up to FT from PT.

We were told that we would be going FT at the end of November.

End of November came, still no FT.

Now, still no sign of going FT.

Put in grievance forms, union rep has told us not to hold our breath as RM seem to be stalling.

How "binding" was the repick? Apparently DOM filled in all the relevant forms, and the FT was agreed by HR. Is there any way RM are able to back out of giving us FT now if they have changed their minds?

Are you getting paid FT hours, if not, are you cutting off, if the answer to both is no then take a long hard look at yourself in the mirror!

No, I'm not working FT hours, I'm not a fecking cretin, so don't talk to me like one!

I'm still on a 3day 24 hour duty, and I never work over my time full stop.

I'm working PT, and being paid PT.

Even though we were promised, and signed for, FT hours and duty, and pay, in the repick.

Is a repick, in which i have physically signed for a new FT duty, in any way binding. I was told it had all been agreed.

Or can RM just decide not to honour this.?

did the PT'ers who'd picked FT duties eventually get made FT? Or are they still being stalled? Or have they been told they are staying PT and the FT job has been withdrawn?

Wasn't impying you were a cretin, some people do a 40 hour week every week but are only on a 25 or 30hr contract, Royal Mails way of making a saving when said postie is on leave or sick!

Put in a grievance, only way to bring the matter to a head.

Be nice to people posting on your topic 'Im not a f***in cretin so don't talk to me like one' will hardly enhance your numbers of replies will it.

they were promised full time then they said after they couldnt make them up

When we went into the repick which was October 2010, many of the long serving part timers were asked if they wanted to go full time, which they did. When the duties were finally complete some full time vacancies were available due to leavings etc and they were awarded on seniority - HOWEVER - they were temporary full time contracts because the revision was going to be revisited and potential changes made - they are still temporary and their substantive contract is still part time and can be reverted back.

Be nice to people yourself mate. the "I'm not a feckin cretin" was only aimed at you after you misread my original post, assumed I'm working for nothing, and told me to take a good look at meself in the mirror. Wasn't a particularly nice response.

Anyway sexylegs, I'm sure you're as lovely as me in real life, so we'll put this down to a misunderstanding.

You clearly didn't read my post properly, I've already put in a grievance, now going to stage 2 grievance.

not holding out much hope, specially based on dvbuk's and bringon4dayweeks experiences :)

You are entitled to be full time end of.You've had a revision for christs sake,this needs to go up to Div level,if not HQ.
A sit in would be a goer for starters.

I agree POSTMAN, I can't see what a grievance will achieve...we will get fobed off again, just got the stage 1 grievance fobbed off by our unit manager, the stage 2 grievance will be going to area manager who I'm sure will continue the fobbing off.

There won't be a sit-in. there are 4 of us affected out of 60 posties, and people just care about their own lot on the whole. I think our local rep will do whatever he possibly can to prevent a ballot at any rate, and our area rep would certainly not approve of us having a ballot on this.

I also have NO FAITH WHATSOEVER in our area rep, and even less in our divisional rep. (Our divisional rep forced my previous office to accept a revision we KNEW was wrong through the use of bullying tactics on the weaker members)

I think RM are just going to continue riding roughshod over us however and wherever they see fit.

Can I have a one-man, or maybe a 4-man sit-in?

Even if you were upgraded it would still be a temporary upgrade however how sure are you that you have picked a full time duty? The repick is usually based on the hours required to run the office, now what was formally a full time duty under the old system and may well still have the same delivery points the IPS element could well have been removed, which would make it a part time duty.

the repick was done after the revision, most of the rural duties are in already.

I've picked the driver part of a 39hr PandL duty, which includes 1 hour IPS every day. It's a new duty.

It is ALREADY being done by part timers, and it's unachievable in the hours allotted, but that's by the by

The duty I have picked is IN, and being done, and is on the weekly duty rotas as a 39 hour duty.

so, yeah, I'm sure I've picked a FT duty.

and why would the upgrade to FT be only a temporary one.? Al the rurals who are already in on revised duties aren't temporary.
